I just got my boat back from Joe at JP Marine in Lakeside, looks like they did a great job. They finished it ahead of time and did a couple of "extras' i wasnt expecting like cleaning the bilge area and such. Thanks marcsrollin and hotrod56cars for recomending them!
Ok, so, im gonna be taking my jet boat out for the first time. I have only dealt with outboards before so this is my first time dealing with lots-o-engine and jets and the way they work. Now, i do understand the "way" they work but i have never actually done "it" before. So i guess what im looking for is the basic specifics to jet boats(its a 19' centurion flat bottom).
Is there anything i should do differently when launching/recovering the boat? i.e. when to start in the water, idiling? Its my understanding that there is no such thing as neutral?
When i do get going where do i set the place deverter at? I have a 460 w/ berkley jc pump. Is there a spot i should have it when at slow speed? cruising? balls to the wall?
Any info, tips, do's and dont's would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping to take it out to either San Vincente or El Capitan this weekend to get the feel of everything before i run out to the river.

Last I checked (two weeks ago) San V was only open to fishing on the weekends , so you might want to go to El cap. The place diverter and stuff you will figure out real quick. As for launching , make sure you are in enough water that you don't suck sand and dirt or gravel up into the intake under the boat. Same as when you come in , you want to kill it and coast in a couple of yards.

First thing you need to do is post up pics. It really gets the people here excited. Second, you will find that jet boats are among the easiest boats to pilot. Litterally 2 minutes in you will see what I am talking about. The "sweet spot" of each boat is different. Usually at higher speeds you are going to have the diverter up (not all the way), A good rule of thumb is about a 6' wall of water behind the boat. When cruising I always had my nozzle pretty much straight (diverter handle set in the middle)
Enjoy the boat. You will have much more fun in it than some gay ass outboard. Oops, did I say that out loud? ;D

There are pics of it on here. If you go under classifieds for complete boats, its under the topic, "Bitchin Sanger for sale". While the guy i bought it from listed it as a 78' Sanger upon actually taking a look at the registration it says its a 1977 Centurion. He felt kinda foolish when he brought out the pink slip. He said the guy he bought it from told him the registration is wrong and that is a Sanger flat bottom. There was a discussion about this in another topic, i cant remember, maybe its the same one with the pics. Either way im happy so far with my purchase. I will try to post some more recent pics that i have taken of it.

The steering is a little diffrent in the sense that the impeller has to be under load in order to manuver. So the lower the RPM's the worse the steering , The higher the RPM's the better the steering.

Thanks Brad, for taking care of the pics. Apparently, not only do i need help with my jet boat i need help posting pics as well!!! Thanks for the kudos too, i bought her for $4,300 and spent another $500 on getting the engine fixed up at JP Marine.

Personally, I thought that boat was a total score the first time I saw it. I love it's look, it's clean, it's got the right parts, and it's pretty much done. Awesome score. Jet boats are easy to drive. No worries.

looks like a CIRCLE boat to me ;D
no really nice ride, just be carefull man and please dont take any passengers on your first high speed pass. UGLY things can happen FAST.
you will probably need a second person to load the boat on the trailer for the first couple of times until you figure out where nuetral is. it's just a little forward and reverse motion you will get it.

I posted a thread about this boat about a month ago.He told me it was a Sanger and I put some pics of it on Socal and we could not figure out what it was. Nice score it is a good looking boat.
