Tire sizes for Ford Super Duty PSD

OK, so I think I am about to do something stupid. Need somebody to talk me out of it, or give me some ammo to use against the wife... >:D

I have a set of Good Year Wrangler MT/R tires size 305/70LT17 that I was going to use on my Jeep project that has not yet come to fruition.

My Super Duty has tires that are extremely sun checked and I no longer have much faith in them. They are 265/75LT17 and honestly look too damn small. Also, I would like to drop the freeway RPM by a tad, I like to keep her under 2000 RPM on the freeway and that is only 68mph, She has 3.73:1 cogs...



Will these guys fit my Ford without rubbing all over the place? I have the stock alloy wheels and have considered getting a slightly wider wheel, but definitely don't want to lift it.. (well, I do, but wifey won't let me  :thumbdown: ).

I have five MT/R's and think the spare will even fit in the stock location, Maybe...  :-\

I'm a believer in leaving stuff stock, or well at least I wish I left my truck alone. Maybe I wouldn't of toasted the "almighty7.3"

LOL, funny you say that. My truck is the only thing I own that is stock... Here's the stupid part, I bought it brand new in 2005 and it just turned 32,000 miles, has been switched over to synthetic oils and the only thing I changed on it was replacing all the speakers, adding an amp and installing a 40 gallon auxiliary fuel tank. Oh yeah, and a Hoola girl on the dash... ;)

My Blazer had a bumper sticker that said "Stock Sucks"... ;D

8 years old and only 32,000 miles? Drive the thing man! I know people in town here that have more miles on newer Jazzy Scooters.......  :screwy:

My brothers '99 SD has had 305's since the first set wore out, 360,000 miles ago. He has the 3.73's too, and is real close to stock rpm for 3.55's, 1800 r's @ 70. It is lifted 4" I think.

I ran 305's on my 2002 but it was a 16" wheel. Maybe your wife will support a leveling kit as apposed to a full lift. They're pretty cheap and will get you some extra clearance.

If you bought them for your jeep check the load range on them. I put a set of D rated tires on my diesel dodge once. They wandered real bad and cornered like shit. To soft of sidewall.

I picked up a couple of stock rims for cheap this morning, going to mount two of them and give it a look see...

They are load range E and are not the Kevlar belted ones (I wish) I paid almost nothing for them from a guy that put 2000 miles on them and then lifted the truck and went with 38"... :screwy:
My bud has a 4" lift for my truck sitting in his garage, I may try sneaking that badboy on the truck and tell the wife she's losing it... :sly:

Really the only thing it gets used for is road trips.

Honestly, working 60+ hour weeks for the last five years has not been real vacation friendly.

It has enabled me to pay off everything I own with the exception of my house though...  8)

If my house comes up in value another $20K, I'm outta here. Going to build my forever house in the mountains, city life is not for me.
Kids all growed up, so I want to have one seriously sweet empty nest. :thumbup: :thumbup:
