general opinion jet or v drive

now i do realize that this is a jet boat forum, i would like an answer that does not start with jets rule!!!! ha!!!
an honest answer would be best. and why.... jet or vdrive

Get someone to let you drive a v-drive and you decide. Not everybodies cup of tea. If you like it, your hooked for life.

Yah, I agree with that. Drive both if you have that option. I love the simplicity of the jet on the lake because of the reverse and no skags so I can just beach em.. Plus rooster tails are pretty legit. I stick with V-Drive because I like the feel of them better. To me Im more in control than with a jet. Plus it takes alot less $$ to go fast!

i liked the versatility of my dads vdrive with the t400 transmission in it. with the blower motor in 1st gear you could putt through the channel, 2nd gear could rip a skiier out of the water like nothing, and 3rd gear could haul the mail.

Having had both I've found that each have their advantages and disadvantages, the pump with the easiness of control (especially going on and off the trailer),the shallow draft when on a plane, the roominess and not having to hear that damn gearbox, the vdrive however has that shit your pants feeling when you mash on the foot feed that a pump just can't replicate, also the fuel thing is a great plus, and they just look so damn cool

i own both, i wouldn't say its any cheaper, they are both money pits, but it takes less hp to go as fast

Do this with a vee drive in 6" of water and I'll never touch another jet boat.....

They all have there specific purpose...

I would love to have anther vee drive cruiser.....

I will stick with a jet....Hit a sandbar in light rain going 30-40mph(happened to me a couple years ago). Drag off an go....

That it another major drawback with a Vdrive, you are limited to only a few small parts of the river

I'm devoted to jets but there is one other problem with them that's hard to fix. No power off control. If you don't think it's a problem just look at the beachings history at Long Beach Marine Stadium. I can't remember any other boat type other than a jet that ever went up on the rocks and I personally know of three.

At the same time I know of very few jets flipping through the air like a toy plane, I know of several vee drives........Just food for thought.

i have owned 2 jets and now one v-drive. I will say that the v-drive is alot more fun to drive than the jet. I took the new v-drive out this last weekend and i had to hold the wheel the whole time. I didnt have the sweet ass rooster tail via the new hydrolic diverter, i didnt have seats for 5 people and a cooler, with the Sanger like i did with the Spectra. I missed that boat all the way up until i drove the Sanger. The v-drive turned better, was way faster, and sounded bad ass. i like them both but right now i like my v-drive

I have the paterns for the stock four seat and console interior. I run buckets right now and have a soft ice chest that fits behind one seat and a plastic tote on the other side with towels ropes mushroom anchore etc.

I have the original wood and vinyl. I need to make a set. It's easier to do them all at once cuz alot of the panels are the same. Like 8 seat backs instead of 4
