Hey Kim,  my name is John
                                               and I am a boat-a-holic   ::)

I would have been out there for a few hours Sunday w/o the boat just to meet up with some of the newer members that I haven't met face to face like Ken.  First off, again let me express my condolences and continuing prayers for your family.   This truly was a tragedy of epic proportions.   If the family was sent to either Inland Valley Regional, Loma Linda, or RivCommHosp  I have family that has or does work in all those ER's.   I am in awe of their skills and work ethic.

Anyway, as I had the worst case of stomach flu ever, instead this weekend,  I didn't make it out.   Would it be possible to post a pic of Ken and/or the rest of the family, so we can see who we are talking about?   When he does get better, I want to know who it is that I am beating at horseshoes   ;D   I spend waaaay too much time around local lakes, and I am sure we will cross paths someday.  At least I hope to . . .

That's IT!!! I'm never playing horseshoes with John around ever again! (And ESPECIALLY with Marc as a partner.......I'm surprised noones boat got hit.....) John's a ringer....... :sly:

Then again, I've sworn to NEVER listen to Rivertard before too, and yet.......he still suckers me in!

Thank you for all that Kim!

Yes, you will never find a better group anywhere! Kinda of like the "land of misfit toys", this crew, individually (Myself included), are nuts. Collectively, we are there for anyone as a single entity it seems at times. Times like this. We are all thinking of you guys right now.

I just got home and read this terrible news...I am so sorry for this tragic loss, I don't have the words.

I just came home from working out of my normal area and have not seen my kids for three weeks and read this. The lump in my throat is the size of a baseball...

Please post the details of the services if you feel it is appropriate, it would be appreciated. God speed little boater, you will be missed terribly.

You guys are awesome  :thumbup: :thumbup:

To All;
    You hear of similiar tragic stories like this and you can never imagine the pain that the families are facing; unfourtantly Im having to go through this.; No one would ever think a normal father son BBQ, boating day would end like this. Oh how he loved to go boating;  My son, my life, my pride and now my angel!
     I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone for the many of kind words, support and prayers that you all have sent. What you all have done for me and my family is helping us out a great deal. There is not enough words I can express to tell you how thankful I am for everyones generosity through this all. I am thankful to be apart of this site, because we all know the struggles that are present in our world now and you all came together to help me and my family out. This truely means so much to me.
      Again, thank you dearly for all that everyone has done. I hope one day I could return the generosity you all have given me.

Ken,

I have nothing to compare your loss to, but I sincerely hope that you don't blame yourself for this. You did everything you could to make sure Luke was safe and ready for a day on the lake. I have gotten many messages and emails from people, not just on SCJB, but on PB, RDP as well as people with no ties to any of the forums. A lot of people are asking as to services for Luke. What are the plans for that? I know lots of folks want to come and celebrate the life of Lucas. PM me any details.

Keep your head up brother, it does get better.

Ken,
I heard about this tragic accident when we got out to the river. Our deepest condolences are extended to you and your family. I wish you a speedy recovery.

For those of you who haven't met ken, he has a serious passion for jet boats. I met him at a birthday party and we B.S.'ed about boats and even this site for atleast a solid 2 hours!

Ken and Kim,

   I am not sure why I feel the need to be there at the service tomorrow but I do.  Two years ago we lost my niece, at 17 she died in her sleep.  After months the coroner gave up trying to figure out why.  She was a special girl, the perfect kid.  Over 700 people came to the funeral and people are still posting on her MySpace and FB sites.   Yesterday my best friend called and tells me that HIS 19 yr old nephew died in his sleep.   To the family he was everything.
   With support and love for each other, the Nelson family will get through this, I know it.  There is so much positive energy and prayer directed towards your family right now that that is the only possible outcome.  It will seem very dark right now, but in time the pain will diminish and you will be able to focus on what lies ahead for you.  Love your spouse and kids all the more, laugh and enjoy everyday with them and keep yourselves open to the good things that life will have to offer you.   I know things are awfully painful right now, but it is remarkable how at times like these you will find strength and love that you had no idea was there.   I will continue to pray for anyone who has lost a child, and please know you are not alone.       John

I managed to get today off work and left early this morning for Norco to attend the services on behalf of SCJB . Met up with Matt (Mblack)  and John (Glasscutter)...real nice service at the church, then lead over to the cemetery where they released white doves over the casket at the final resting spot for Lucas. it was pretty moving.

Matt and I headed over to the reception and got to sit and chat with Ken for awhile. he said hes still in a lot of physical pain, but the doc's said he is on a steady road to recovery and should be back to 'normal' in 2-3 months.

Ken is absolutely surrounded by a large loving family, but I let him know we are all here for him. I also delivered the check from all the donations made as well as paid auctions up to this morning. The remaining auction payments and any other donations will be mailed to the Nelson family as I receive them.

Everyone, thanks again.
