Title: KISS my
Post by: hotrod56cars on July 28, 2007, 12:53:37 PM
So my G/F bought 4 tickets for the KISS concert last night, it was her 16 yr. old son's birthday present. Her son, his G/F, my G/F (his mom), and myself went. Here's a review of the show:

It started an hour late. Paul Stanley (lead singer and rythym guitarist) went to the hospital with a heart rate of 200 bpm so he wasn't able to make it.  :-\  Then Gene Simmons said he didn't want to let any of the fans down, this concert is for Paul. Thanks to all of the fans that made it out to the concert and to KISS.com. Next I heard many songs that I had never heard before. Then Gene Simmons said he didn't remember any of the words to any of KISS's old (read decent) songs.  :-\  Then Gene Simmons talked about KISS.com some more. Next Gene had 5 women and 5 men all come up on stage to help the band sing, yea that sounded worse than you could possibly imagine.   :P  Next I heard several more songs that I had never heard of. Then Gene was very appreciative of all the fans that support KISS and he talked some more about KISS.com. Then they played and sang Wanna Rock All Night Long, or something like that, then we heard Gene mention for us to not foget to go to KISS.com tomorrow (today) and thank you and goodnight.

I know there are a lot of KISS fans here so I thought I would do us all a favor and tell you about the concert that I went to.  :P

In all honesty, I was really surprised how well they actually sounded like KISS (Gene singing).

Gene simmons would let you hump his wife for enogh $$....There is not one thing water cars boats tampons condoms shitbags that don't have kiss on them....He is ruining the whole thing....FUK Kiss.com...How does he not know the words to the fuk'n songs!!! Maybe he said go to Kiss.com to get yer money back for a shitty show?

He is the king of rock whores. When he started the concert he asked: "Does everyone want to go home or do you want to rock!" (Sounds of fans screaming) And the band played on...

The birthday boy loved the concert, it was his first one ever and I guess that's what counts...  :-\   ;D

That's too bad...... I personally would've rather had a rain check for another date. Having seen KISS  many times including front-row-center seats for the Animalize Tour. They should've offered you another date. Gene Simmons is a whore when it comes to marketing the band...... one of the reasons they're stilll around..... heck, you can even be buried in a KISSket...... Dimebag was(RIP).

I've been to a couple of KISS concerts and they were by far some of the best concerts I've ever been to . Each one better than the last .Genes constant slamming you over the head with his "buy this buy this" bull shit does get very old and it actually takes from the fact that they should be glad to just be there playing for you .

I've never been on that site, but I'm sure the lyrics can be purchased there.

Oh, I'm such a dumb-assss, you meant for Gene Simmons to go to KISS.com for his lyrics. Now that would have been funny, walk up to the stage with a laptop. LOL

Does Pantera ring a bell?  ;D

From wikipedia... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dimebag_Darrell

Dimebag Darrell (born Darrell Lance Abbott on August 20, 1966, Arlington, Texas – December 8, 2004, Columbus, Ohio), also known as Diamond Darrell until mid 1992, was the lead guitarist for the heavy metal bands Pantera, Damageplan and Rebel Meets Rebel.

On December 8, 2004, while performing with Damageplan at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag Darrell Abbott was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. Abbott was shot a total of five times, at point-blank range in the back of the head. He was 38 years old.

Chromey , just for future reference . Absolutly nobody could shred the heavy metal guitat like dimebag Darrell . Between him and his brother Vinny Paul who played drums in pantera , They set the bar at a level which is unatainable for modern (80's to now ) heavy metal . It wasnt just screaming and blazing fast guitar . It was above all else a personallity and a driving force for which there is no comparison . Dimebag was shot and killed on stage in front of his brother and thousands of screaming fans , by a fan who was pissed because Pantera had broken up .

My friend is a huge Pantera fan and has a three albums that they recorded prior to cowboys from hell. Good 80's style shit .

KISS w/ Cheap Trick at the LA Sport Arena was the first concert I ever saw.  The only Pantera concert I went to I walked out of. Today I thought maybe I was missing something so I went to YouTube. Yup decent guitar riffs but overall the band is weak. Couldn't find a song I wanted to listen to all the way thru. Lotta boobage in the audience tho. The fact that you guys are lifelong members of the KISS army is a bit troubling too.

I saw Pantera live, it was a pretty decent concert. Never seen Cheap Trick.

never seen kiss in concert, don't really think i need to, they have been around forever and proved themselves, now it is time for them to move on, pantera is a different breed from kiss, harder and  faster, i don't think they can be compared to eachother, i saw pantera and suicidal tendancies in the late 80's and they both kicked ass

The only Pantera concert I went to I walked out of.

it all depends on when you saw pantera....if you saw them in the mid to late 90's....i wouldnt have blamed you....Phil (singer) was hopped up on heroin and drunk out of his mind 24/7 and performed horribly.

I saw pantera in like 2001 with Slayer and Static-X and it was a good solid set.

I later saw phil with SuperJoint Ritual on ozzfest....i walked away to take a piss and grab a beer because between each song was a 5-10 minute ego rant with him makin claims on just how much of a bad ass he is.

Any true fan knows that Phil is the reason pantera broke up, not dimebag. Nathan Gale was one clueless SOB.  >:(

KISS...Not my favorite..Never seen 'em...Couldn't care too...Pantera..Never seen 'em but would have loved too! You say that you walked outta the concert which led me to believe that it was a bad show...Then you say that you can't find a song that you would want to listen to all the way through so maybe it was cause metal isn't yer style of music...If it is you are the first metal head that I've ever heard that couldn't find a Pantera song they would listen to all the way through! :o

To get me to spend money on a CD it takes more than just a guitar player.  Some of my faves are Judas Priest, WASP, Megadeath.  The all time best may be old school but nobody plays a better guitar than Frank Marino w/ Mahogany Rush. He played lots of covers that payed homage to some of the originators of rock. Not exactly what has come to be known now as heavy metal but for great music with intelligent lyrics no body beats Blue Oyster Cult. I saw one of the last shows they were allowed to do before the FDA outlawed their lasers. They still play over 100 dates a year and everyone still sounds good. I will be going to the Heaven and Hell show in a few months cuz Sabbath still rocks n Ronnie James Dio isn't quite what he used to be, but then no one has piped like RJD. I still mourn the implosion of GNR, they could have been one of the greatest bands of all time. I guess I just don't fit into what has come to be known as heavy metal is today. I have seen all of the best of the "pioneers" except Jimi and it takes a lot to get me excited anymore. I just sayin' . . .

Cool but I think Pantera is a different band from a different time then those listed (exept megadeath)...I'm guessing your over 35 right?   Pantera is without a doubt WAY harder then Judas Priest, WASP, Blue Oyster Clut, Rush and Dio...Totally different sound....Music to my ears! I'm not sayin'....I'm just sayin'.... ;D

I'm just saying that Pantera etc. is kind of a one trick pony. God am I dating myself with that reference?  For a band to stand out from the rest they need songs that vary in speed and sound. They need intelligent lyrics about a variety of things and voices that can be understood. Fast fingers are not enough to keep people listening 10 years after the last CD is released. Please don't hate me cuz I'm old, its bad enough going to concerts where the band is always fat and balding.

Van Halen was a good concert and so was Van Hagar. Eddie shred's! Sammy Hagar's birthday bashes in Cabo are a freakin' blast, I've been to 3 of them. Rage Against The Machine was probably one of the best concerts I've ever been to. Megadeath was pretty decent as well. Metalica rocked for a lot longer than most and they were in a dirt field. Eagle's last tour was awesome with them all together and doing their solo stuff in between. Pink Floyd definately had the best sounding and loudest sounds I've ever heard outdoors. AC/DC rocked the Sports Arena (has a roof) and I thought my ears would start bleeding at any time.

Willie Nelson (20 years ago) was a great concert. Alabama, Kenny Rogers, and The Oak Ridge Boys were all fun concerts also. I thought Crystal Gayle suked but my parents and sister liked it.

Too much of a lot of things have destroyed my memory banks, that's all I got for now.

Never expected this to happen, and I won't believe they will make all 50 shows before Eddie implodes but 3/4 of one of the greatest bands in the world has announced they are going back out on the road.  No I'm not talking Iron Maiden here, I'm talking VAN HALEN!!! However in a move that shows how smart Michael Anthony is and how petty Eddie is they will tour with Eddie's son on bass guitar. 20 years too late tho as Dave's voice is shot and the only question that really remains is how motivated is one of the most underated drummers in all of rock and how sober is his ego maniac brother?

Each individual band memeber of Van Halen is sevrely underated. Even if they all got back together, it will never be as good as it once was again.
