Anybody have any recommendations on where to launch at Lake Tahoe?

South shore i called yesterday its 75 dollars just for the inspection to go on the the lake. And the dates that i want to go all the hotels are marked up to like 500$ a night in august Thant is crazy. I may just go to the Avi for the day for hot august night river trip.
