Title: Launch ramp Mohave Valley
Post by: TooSober on August 20, 2015, 07:47:36 PM
There is a private boat launch a little ways up from the Avi. Looks like some good beaches as well. Was thinking of staying in that area and was wondering if any one has any info on the ramp and whether it is a good place to find a beach ect

Not sure of the private launch ramp, but that area of the river is awesome. There are a few spots just up river from the AVI for setting up a beach spot. There are also quite a few beach spots south of the AVI for the same thing.

Yeah, there is a private one south of Rotary park, but I believe its part of an H.O.A., and a private gated community.
There's Rotary park, and Lazy Harry's for launch ramps. Both about 4-5 miles upriver from the Avi.

There's even more upriver, too

I was just at lazy Harry's 2 weeks ago and there's  tons of sea weed or grass in that cove. Be cautious,I had to pull it out of my pump 2xs  even later in the day at a higher water levels. Just my 02 cents

Was there Sunday...Didn't seem any worse than usual...no pump salad here...but definitely check it before leaving the channel to the river.

I hear both good and bad about Lazy Harry's. here is the area that I am speaking of. There looks to be a boat launch (not sure if it private) and when I take the boat by that area on the river I see trucks and day camps set up and looks like a fun spot. Does any one know if it is private launch and worth renting a small place in those houses next to it?

The right pic shows where this is located from the AVI.

i never even tapped " the throttle but I was forced to move over  for a boat coming in and that's when it happened " pump salad!!!!  Your right check before you hit the river opening   When I stomped on it I got nothing and my boat was just off the rocks . Good thing I had some friends to help me out

It is not a private ramp.  Lazy Harry's is alright just a small bar they serve food there not great food but will work in a pinch.  Make   sure you watch when going out to the river it can get shallow in the entrance.  Stay in the middle and if its to low walk it out you will be fine.

I haven't been to that launch ramp, or know if it is private or not.
When I looked on google maps, the ramp doesn't reach the water, by a long ways, at least a trailer length, but the water looks low in the pic.

the area of houses is willow valley if I'm correct my parent just bought a place there and from what I understand to launch there you have to have a gate card or pay the membership fee to use it but I definitely do not know for a fact as of right now

You have to live in Willow Valley and pay a membership fee.

If you want to give Lazy Harry's a call they could tell you about the launch below the bar.

I'm local and I only like launching three places. Jack Smith, Launch Beach, or Lazys.

The Avi sucks ass, too much current and traffic.

Launch beach is on the AZ side just below Avi but requires a decent 4x4. (Launching in sand)

Last summer, I rented a house about 1/4 mile up the from lazy harrys, I launched from there and docked the boat at the house, but you can't leave your boat docked over night unless you wanna see it sitting on the sand until about 11 the next morning. So even though it was cool being able to leave from the house, you still have to launch every day.
