A lot of you know how bad and gross the marina is at lazy harrys marina (sunshine marina). They are fixing the problem by installing four 42 inch pipes from the river flowing into the marina to prevent the stagnant water and tall grass from growing. The pipes will begin flowing at 4 units realeasing from the dam. maximum release from the dam is 5 units. you will only see 4-5 units in summertime. They started it about 1-2 months ago. Here some pics.

Yes your right. It has gone back and forth whether it was going to get done or not. They finally decided to get the ball rolling. I guess the longest part was waiting for the permits and such. Army corps of engineers controls that I guess.

In today's paper. Supposed to be done by December 31. That is the deadline. They can't work between January 1st and June 30th because of some endangered species breeding.

Sweet. Yeah I figured they were already done because of the deadline. I've been on sort of a mini vacation over the holidays so I haven't made it up there to get more pics just yet.

They are in fact done. Here's some pics.

so that area was just like a big stagnant smelly dirty mess so they put those drains to circulate fresh water through? cool. im sure it'll help the area grow now that its nice and clean and enjoyable.
-
The Marina looks crisp and clear, and enough water to launch
(Might not be enough parking now...)

it wasnt THAT bad, but it wasnt anything I'd go swimming in. The worst of it was the lake weeds getting caught in the pump...hopefully the current in there will help keep it down. the thing i wish they also did was dredge out the inlet to this channel.....someone always would catch a rock in the impeller goin through there.
-
Yeah I agree with Brad. The weeds were bad. And now that there is going to be current the water will be much cleaner. Before everything that grew or spilled in there just basically stayed there. (Algae, moss, oil, gas, nasty mud).
-
It looks great. And ya brad i would hope they would make that entrance a little deeper. I have not hit yet going into there. but all three boats that tried to follow me in hit the bottom. I guess i am just good. lol.
that water was pretty bad. in those pics it looks awesome. I bet those home owners are happy as hell!!
