So I'm lookin at buying a 78 hallet bubble deck
Original gelcoat
Nice interior
468BBC
Berkeley jc
Anything I should watch out for ?
And anything special to look for ?
I know Hallett is a great name but is this a good/desireable hull

Walk away Halletts are terrible hulls.....! Place sarcasm here.
As far what to look for with any boat; soft spots in the hull, any wood rot in stringers, if it has fiberglass fuel tanks remove immediately, if your not mechanically inclined take a mechanic to check the engine out. I'm pretty sure I left a ton of stuff out. Hopefully someone else will chime in.
Good luck

It has 10 gallon spun tanks
The motor sounds solid
Full stringer doesn't sound like there are soft spots ...
Is it a fast hull??
I'm stoked thanks a lot guys!!
It has factory gelcoat that looks pretty good :)

Couldn't find the ad or any pics . But a running hallet should be a good start in my eyes for the right price and in the right condition. If that's the boat you want .
-
Halletts are great hulls, I have a bubble deck that is pretty stout. They take a lot to go fast but there are a few out there that push 90-100mph. Not very common to see those types of numbers, a lot of time and money is required for those numbers. It takes chop pretty well and will ride like a Cadillac with the diverted trimmed out right.
Look over the stringers and transom for rot, black spot in the wood are not a good sign. Most of the old hulls I've seen have faired pretty well for how old they are. Post up some pics of the boat if you can.

Post up what you have and ask any questions, we can help you with just about anything. If the hull is solid and the engine runs you won't regret a owning a Hallett.
