Try a company called Formost.  They asked Hp I said 350. They ask speed I said 50 mph. Both are true at 3000 rpm.
No pictures no question about exhaust were ask. I would not call in with a header burn to insure. I got avg. coverage with a know value of 20,000.00

I believe it was 350.00 a year. We have Farmers for all our insurance now but the don't insure boats so the use Formost to insure the boat and other toys.  We have had them on the sand toys also been good for that.

Wozencraft insurance in Orange County is big into boating himself and will get anyone covered no matter horsepower, I have mine thru them and couldn't be happier, they write for several different companies, mine is with farmers and have had a couple claims without any issues.
I was a adjuster for progressive insurance and went to them and wouldn't go anywhere else, if you need a number let me know.
I pay around 400 a year but have agreed value of 17k and high coverage for property damage and bodily injury.

Former adjuster and Fraud Investigator here....  Be careful not fully disclosing info on your boat.  In CA(where most of us are), ANY misrepresentation of info on your policy is grounds to deny any claim.

It'd suck to have something happen, then the insurance company walk from it, BUT IT CAN AND DOES HAPPEN.    ALWAYS remember, when you deal with an insurance company, you are dealing with a financial institution.  Any other thing you think is marketing influence.  Your coverage comes down to one thing, your policy.  They wont pay for something not on the policy.   Your policy is the contract.  If you misrepresent your end of the policy, or contract, the contract can be void.

There is no good or bad companies.  There are good and bad policies.  This is where a good agent comes in.  There are ALOT more bad agents then good ones.   I could provide a ton more info, but feel i'm rambling

There is a new section to the site for Boat Insurance that is sponsored by Nikki Kinkaid Insurance. Only been 24 hours and I have heard a hand full of people who have had great feedback of their experience in using her services.

Hey All,

I read all of your input on what's covered, what's not covered, what to tell your insurance company, what they're willing to cover and what value they are covering your boat for. Give me a call and I'm happy to give you all the information you want. The reality is that we never use insurance until it's a major accident or loss. I think Dennis was the one who said he didn't mind paying the premium because the alternative to not having insurance is being out the 25K he has into Becky and I couldn't agree more.  There are a million options out there and coverage combinations. Jet Boat Insurance is not one size fits all. And honestly as the price of a 55mph boat vs. a 85 mph boat isn't that different, being honest upfront guarantees that in the case of something major the insurance company doesn't hesitate on paying the claim.

By all means give Nikki a call.
She is very knowledgeable and easy to work with.
She asked me about engine horse power.  I replied it has never been on a dyno.
I told her the engine spins a stainless 'A' impellor to 6,000 RPMs.
There was a moment of silence and then a reply.  Well according to the charts I would say it is 750 HP.  We can do this Dave, no problem.
I feel we have great coverage at a fair price.
Thank you again Nikki and we hope to see you and James at the Mothers Day trip.
Dave & Erika

I insured the Sprint today with Foremost. Valued the boat at 14k and the trailer at 1k. Estimated horsepower at 350 ;-) and top speed at 70. Full coverage etc.$305 per year. I also use Foremost on the Commander and our Manufactured home. They are a good resource.
