Colby, you're right about shelters and pits, there are a lot of shelters that will only take them on a kill basis but there are tons of pit rescue groups that can help. Charly is a doll. Newbomb Turk (that's his name) wasn't a rescue dog, he's a blue pit, he comes from some really good bloodlines, I've been looking for the right blue for about 10 years and he found me! Here he is as a puppy, he's only 15 months old so he's still a pup at this point.

Pretty girl right there Skip, sorry she's gone.
Luckily mine is only 2 1/2 so a long ways to go before she's gone.
She was a rescue at the age of 9 months. She was scrawny and in really bad shape when we got her. She was so sick she couldn't walk, had to feed/water her with a syringe. She weighed all of 35 lbs. Cramming antibiotics down the throat of even a 35lb pit you don't know can be pretty nerve racking.
Now shes a vet proclaimed 63. I doubt she's really 63 but that's what the vet claims. She's worth it all, couldn't ask for a better dog/friend.

Well here is my new pup , I picked him up today from Skip . His new name is Leonidas (Leo, for short) . Then i hear...."Look what i found" :banghead: It belonged to one of her customers and was not treating the dog very nice :mad: That pisses me off :mad: Then she say's we will find her a good home, she's just a puppy....But after awhile of her being here im thinking screw the cats, i wanna keep her ;D She's my new boat buddy. She follows me all over the yard, and sits by me when im on the computer....So im claiming her...(dont tell the wife) im still actin like im mad ;D

Spike's just fine. That doesn't mean we have not had issues... Tail removed due to infections in the creases. Biggest scare was bladder stones that plugged up is plumbing. Had major surgery for that one including nudering and rerouting of his urinary tract his poor peter is now for show only, pees like a girl and the jewels are long gone ( glad they don't do that to men). If you need a good vet for bulldogs you have to go to Dr. Buchco in Rubidux (651)686-2242.

thanks. ya i have only had one major problem. i almost lost mine due to parvo. but after a 7 day stay at the vet and 1200$ he is fine. i had his balls cut to try and mellow him out a bit and keep him from peeing on everything. he has been a lot better since. but so far no major problems.

This is Hoven he is about a year old and we got him sunday from a shelter. He is a lab pit mix, they found him walking down the street. And when animal control picked him up the neighbor said i know who owns the dog and he doesn't want him anymore. But he is pretty smart and trained already he knows all the basic commands and to not mess in the house. And he likes the water and gets along with other dogs so were going to the river this weekend and see how he likes it. He is real skinny but i can take care of that.

Here's our great dog Cody.. My girlfriend at the time picked him up from pavilions! Some woman was giving away a littler of puppies.. She tried to keep him @ her house, but couldn't so I said I take him for a while till we found a place for him.. Now it's 10 years later, needless to say, he grew on me and she didn't! :) Although, now he seems to like my wife more than me for some reason? 8)

We have a "blended" family. The pugs, Conner and Bailey are the class clowns and up for anything, anytime. Mason, the boston hates nature and would rather have a cognac and cigar. Nacho, the jack russell is just plain pissy and tolerates the others. Cant wait to get them on the boat this summer. Gotta find life jackets for the pugs because they float like rocks and swim lick a waterlogged stick.

What a horrible evening this has turned out to be!
About 10pm tonight my dog of 15 years that I have had since he could fit in the palm of my hand, had a stroke. It paralized him on one side so he could'nt stand. I kept him in my lap, keeping him calm knowing what had to be done next... At 11:20 tonight I had my best friend put to sleep.
Words can not explain how heart broken I am.

My second girl 12 year old, Candy was diagnosed with bone cancer last week. The cancer caused her leg to break and the cancer had spread into her lungs. Long hard decision decided to have her put too sleep last Monday. This thread actually kinda helps remind of all the good times when I had 3 Rottweilers, other girl Bailey died from cancer a year and a half ago---My boy Buddy, is kinda depressed and thinking should get a puppy or two.

It was the hardest decision to put mine down a few months ago. But the right thing to do. Its got to be toughest on the kids.

He had a bad day today. He punched out the window in the spare bedroom >:( (damn Boxer heritage) . He cut his leg pretty bad and had to get some stitches. He also made my house look like murder scene, there's blood everywhere, carpet, white bedspread in the spare bedroom, even all the way outside (to bark at the neighbors before I caught him) and the bathroom looks like I was cutting up a body (where I bandaged him up for the trip to the vet) ::). Good thing he did it early this mourning when I was still home, or he might not have lasted the day.
Totals for the day (so far) $400 for the vet, $100 for the window. Looks like I'm not going to Long Beach for the races. :banghead:

Yea, he was a lucky little guy today. And he is doing fine, I have to keep calming him back down. He wants to go bark at the neighbors dogs again (he doesnt like them).
Bad thing about today, other than the obviouse, was that as soon as he woke up at the vets he tried to attack another dog :screwy: , he could hardly stand up but he was ready fight >:(. Good thing there was still a muzzle on him. When he goes back to get the stiches removed hes going to get the "snip snip" treatment, I hope it calms him down a bit. And the vet gave me a name and number for a realy good trainer that works with big, bad, dogs. Dont get me wrong, he loves people, and even his vet (she's about 100lbs soaking wet) says he listens realy good, until theres other animals around. :-\

That sounds EXACTLY like his dad, to a T. He loves people from babies to cotton tops but he has a built in hatred for other dogs, I don't get it. When I had him snipped it settled him down a bit, I probably should have done it sooner to really get the full effect, they do have him down as an aggressive dog at the vet's office though.

Yea, like father like son :banghead: :banghead:. He is a realy nice guy at home, just like his dad. And as soon as someone comes over he runs to get a toy so he can play with them ::) . Funny thing is he likes other dogs that are "bully breeds". He gets along fine with a few Boxers and Pits in the neighborhood and likes my other neighbors Staffie. Maybe he still remembers mom and dad. Just dont let him see a Shepard, lab, or anything fluffy. And as you know Skip, cats are out of the question. I think thats why he broke the window, cat in the yard.

Brad, what does she weigh? If that's what she looks like at 1yr then she's gonna be a big girl. Mine is about 50lbs. but med. size and she's about 2. Good looking girl though, is she neurotic?

shes about 50lbs...very neurotic...she is a little smaller then her mother was at this age. But dad was a BIG boy.

Boxers are great dogs and very smart. If you go back a few pages theres a pic of my boxer his name is Bosco and hes a little under 100 lbs.

Ha, both mine are males. And the little one will hump the Lab's face when hes laying down. Worse part is the lab just lays there and takes it... It's like dude, you have 65+ lbs on him and you're just going to let him do to town.
