I was thinking of purchasing a better life jacket for when I'm out racing around I checked out life line jackets and there quit pricey hoping to get some input just looken to be safe in the worst case scenario

You cannot put a price on safety. You can sometimes purchase a refurbished one. You need to inquire to Lifeline. It can save you some coin.
There are some less expensive alternatives. But I would consider Lifeline the very best.

My boat isn't a straight up race boat 80 ish and just a weeken racer just wondering what people are using don't want to go crazy with it butt the life jacket I have are 50$and 7-8 years old

While this is true, it exceeds USCG standards. It is comparable to helmets, snell vs. DOT.
You will still have to have a USCG approved pfd in the boat. (Stupid).
If you were to come out of the boat at 80, you will not have on a jacket when you stop moving. Not trying to push you into anything, but I would not be satisfied with anything less. I came out of a boat at about 85mph with a Lifeline. It scared the shit out of me, but I never felt in danger once in the water.

I've had my lifeline for a few years now. I wouldn't buy any other jacket for racing or just making passes on the river. JMO you can't put a price on safety. If you have the extra bucks, I would go with a non chute jacket over comp vest. It's only like 60 bucks more.👍👍👍👍then you get the good leg straps.

. Jake could not be more correct on this. Do not but a chute jacket unless you are going to use it with safety men present. The river will suck you under when your knock out with the parachute jacket.
