So I've been forced to cut back on some some expenses, and the truck payment has to go. And a cheap reliable daily driver needs to take it's place. Now I know how well most of you take care of your boats and trucks.
Now the hard part, I'm a little picky on what I'm looking for. I'd really like a Chevy or pre 99 f150. I've always wanted a K5, so that's still in the mix. I would prefer an extended cab, colors and interiors don't so much matter. I just can't do yellow! And 4x4 is a 100% must. If anyone has anything, please let me know. I'm looking to keep it under $5000 total, and I can handle some light engine work and little things needing to be repaired.

Gimme a call, gonna downsize from my '06 F350 to something the kid can drive and I just don't need a 1 ton crew cab around. But it ain't gonna be near under $5k.

Thanks for the offer, but I drove an '06 f250 for work for a few years. And will owe a f250 at some point. But that point in my life is just not know.
And not officially up for sale yet, but I'm currently in an '06 crew cab Titan with 90k LE 4x4. If anyone is interested let me know.

The truck you own right now sounds like it fits the profile of what you're looking for.
And that Nissan probably doesn't need to be wrenched on for a long time.
My fiancee can get you refinanced with State Farm and get that payment down, I think you can stretch it for 4 years at a decent interest rate.

Ha, yeah. I love my current truck, and
my payment isn't too bad. Problem is I have a very heavy student loan payment that will start next year, and run for the next 10 years. On top of the fact that next year I'll be 26 and will have to pay for health insurance for my daughter and I. And I'd like to be out of my parents house within the next year...
So as you can see I have a lot of new bills that will need to be paid, so I'm trying to get rid of every monthly payment I can.

I don't have a truck for sale, but you should have no problem finding a late 90's silverado for the price you want to pay.

I used my 99 Expedition to tow my boat for a long time till I bought the F250. Towed it awesome and comfortably :thumbup: :thumbup:

Thanks, still holding out for 4wd. There is a lot out there at the moment, I know. But so many sell before I can get to them. Or they want more than I feel they are worth. Plus it's so hard to figure out what I really what. I'm too all over the place, with Chevy, Ram, Dakota, Durango, K5, Tahoe, Cheroke, etc...

If you are going to be using it on launch ramps I would hold out for 4x4. I would also rule out the Durango because they have terrible mileage for the size and have reliability issues on the older ones. Pickup trucks are a known quantity, choose your brand. I don't like towing with short wheel base rigs like K5 or Broncos but that is just me, they are a lot easier to park but they arent' as versatile if you want to go to Home Depot or the dump etc.
I towed a SBC 18ft boat for years with a 85 Toyota 4 cylinder. I wasn't the fastest thing up a grade but I wasn't the slowest either. However I was never all that comfortable stopping in a hurry with no weight over the rear wheels.

X2 on the 4x4. Even with a locker in the rear, my friends sometimes have trouble on some ramps. Not to mention the fact there are many places you can avoid ramp hassles altogether and launch from the beach. :thumbup:
I kinda liken buying a boat towing truck or SUV in 4x2 much like having a vasectomy and only getting one nut clipped......It ain't helping you much on savings when later on it potentially costs you a fortune and you wind up getting done what shoulda been done in the first place.
I remember my buddy towing my 21' Biesemeyer down the windey cliff to get into Bartlett Lake and the brakes on his Xterra a glowin and smokin........ I guess the surge brakes on the trailer weren't adjusted up or working enough for him. I towed it easily all the time with an F350, which is a bit of overkill, but personally anything less than 3/4 ton won't work well with some of our rigs.

X2 on an F350, (7.3, but I'm biased), Never had a 4x4 for launching. My old V6 firebird pulled a 19' Glenco up the back grade to Big Bear for 5+ years, never had a problem at the ramp either.
For power, reliability and room, a 94-97 F250/350 Powerstroke crew/ex-cab is a good option in the price range you're looking at.
An 80's slammed dually makes a nice boat hauller too...

That's pretty much all the reasons I'm holding out for a 4x4. Plus I like a little light wheeling and getting into some cool secluded places for camping.
I have always liked the K5, that's why I'm looking for one. And I've had a late 90's burb, but a little to big so a Tahoe will would do nicely. That was a great truck. Even though, I love my bed. Use it once a week at least. Along with taking the stand ups out.
I thinking I'm just being too picky, because I still have the Titan (which I literally love, and is perfect!) but I need to sell it and just get it over with. The sooner I down grade the more money that goes into saves for the house.

Oh, and I've never really been a fan of diesels. I understand that they last longer, and are way better for towing. Plus all the space and weight. Blah blah... Haha. Just not a fan. I drove an 02 f250 7.3 for a few years, when I worked with my father. Plus now he has an 02 Excursion 7.3, and I just don't know that I could drive one everyday.
