Someone talk me out of it
« on: April 27, 2013, 07:50:07 PM »
So after looking and going over things this new hull of mine is pretty solid. Now I really like my kona although I only took it out 3 times, I'm pretty attached I guess because of all The damn work. The kona is 18 on the dot and this new one is 19'2, but the seating area on the kona is just over a foot and a half longer and a foot wider. Doesn't seem like much but it is. So basically I'm going through this thing and the thought of keeping it and selling the kona is in my mind. Its alittle narrower and longer and has that "fast" look to it opposed to the kona looking like a little family ski boat. What do you guys think?

I know this doesn't help, but this is one of the same reasons why I have two jet boats lol. Goodluck deciding, or just keep both.

Same here.   I have a (now) motor-less Spectra 20 that I have only used once for about 20 minutes two years ago, but that 20 minutes was enough to know that I am gonna love it.   However I also know it will be at least a year and a half before I even start to work on putting a motor together.   I love my 23 footer but it will never be fast enough for me long term.  Decisions, decisions  .  .  .  or I guess I will just keep both and look for a bigger yard.   :screwy:

I could not answer the phone due to fiberglass resin literally everywhere...

I would stick with you're Kona, but only because you feel more comfortable with the extra room.

I am 6'6" and 240#, room is good8)

Yah that's what's stuck in my head about the room. And it's all good, I did however have some grease on my finger and as fast as I was pushing end it was calling back. Didn't mean to blow up your phone with 5 calls. Dam touch screens and dumb phones.

It'd be nice to keep both and have both but I'm not in a position financially and room wise to have 2. I'm lucky the wife lets me have 1 and spend money on it considering shes not working any more so I'm not pushing it with 2. And the kona does ride pretty nice and I dig the colors.

More room is great. Especially with a family. It is really that much more room?
BUT, If you're not happy with it  :-\.
That's what open bows are for.

But is this new hull the one you want to put any amount of time and money into?
It might be a great hull. BUT, what if it's a "can of worms" ? You know about that, right? ;D

Good luck.

By the way, I like the classic look of the Kona.

or maybe I just don't like the shade of green on the kona   :screwy:  it's just symptoms of our addiction.  GL

I would keep the kona. Better hull that the other one for sure. The colors on it are way more nice. I think you'll be more happy with the kona in the long run bud.

a foot is a LOT of room in a boat.  its the difference between someone having a place to put their feet, or hell even having the room for a 2nd set of passengers.  its one of the reasons why i liked my tahiti so much, it was MUCH wider in the back and the front deck was pushed forward.  I could EASILY sit 6 in that thing.  my new boat, a 21, i can barely fit 5 in it.  bigger boat, but smaller passenger area.  :banghead:

If you want room, sell both and buy a pontoon.  Otherwise keep the one that you like the most for all the wrong reasons.  ;)

The sad part is, that Farce outboard would spank all over the Oldsmobubble powered jet. :-

Well according to my 10 year old, I should keep the "booger boat" because its sparkles and she likes it better than the "banana" And she topped it off with "the face".I guess my mind has been made up. Seems like women are born with the power of persuasion.
