I'm looking for a full size SUV or a crew cab truck, I'm looking at everything at the moment. Tahoe,Suburban,1/2 or 3/4 I'm looking to spend 8k-12k let me know what y'all have or if anyone sees an ad post it up here please! I don't have much time to search - no phones at work! LAME! Thanks in advance!!

If it's in your budget go with a diesel. I have a duramax and I'm glad I spent the extra coin to get it. Better fuel mileage and diesel is cheaper. I average 23 to 25 mpg on the freeway and 18 to 19 city. Also you'll have no problems towing anything with it

stay away from expedition/navigator. my 5.4 3v is the devil. but the damn thing has literally every option imagineable.

Im a fan of the GM 1500's. the 5.3 runs really well and they seem to tow great!

Yeah I definitely have looked at some diesels but just at the price range they all have quite a few miles and that kinda worries me, I know definitely won't be a 6.0 haha but let me know if anyone sees a good deal

I understand that, but random Craigslist finds of unmolested diesels is hard to find let alone crew cabs in that price range. Like I said if you see one post a link please!

I was eyeballing this one when i was at the dealer.
The nice thing with Crest Chevrolet is they throw in a lifetime POWERTRAIN warranty. Even on used vehicles.

nahi understand. i was looking for 7.3l excursions and trying to find one that didnt have some crappy canned tune or gauges in the apillar with the boost cranked way up was unpossible. and the few gems that you did find were priced easily 5-7k over the others. i couldnt justify spending high 20's for an old car like that.

I have a 04 2500hd duramax. BEST truck I have ever owned!
When I sold my last truck, an 01 f250hd v10, I said I'd never have another gas truck again. I looked at the three major diesels, power stroke, cummins and duramax. Out of the three, the chevy was the best all around truck! Dodge has a great cummins in it, but the interior and everything else SUCKS, and the power stroke blow up from just sneezing on them!
Go with an LB7 duramax (btw, they are made by Isuzu). Make sure the injectors were done, and buy from an older guy like I did. You will be glad you did!

6.0 powerstrokes are great motors as long as you fix their weak spots (EGR and Head studs) and there are alot of used ones out there that have been fixed at good prices. I did the bulletproof kit on mine and love the truck.

Agreed I have an 06 lbz duramax and it is also the best truck I've ever owned. Cummings has a good power plant but interior is cheap. Ford has there problems as well and they also have shitty interior and there ride quality in my opinion sucks. I had a 5.3 silverado before this and it did ok towing the boat to the river but fuel mileage was a big thing. Now I have a truck that can tow anything I have and great fuel mileage for a big truck with a big motor.

That particular hot tune setup was thought to be relatively safe. We now know that pretty much cooked pistons and all other kind of damage. A lot of those injured trucks are still out there. Just my opinion, don't take any chances. Have a pro check it out before purchase. I used to collect the 12 valve Cummins trucks. I had 3 of them. Hands down my favorite, 94-98.5 with the Bosch P7100 injection pump non EGR. No smog, no computer, no soot recirculated back into oil, efficient, cheap to fix, plenty of power, and always starts as soon as you touch the key. Happy hunting my friend!

If you get any diesel truck, please do yourself a favor, get an aftermarket fuel pump and filter setup. Americas diesel is junk! That why a lot of these trucks have injector issues.

Let me know what y'all think about this thing. Going to look at it Saturday, it is a 5.3 2wd it got 150k tranny done at 100k, fresh tires and wheels, front two seats reupholstered. I was trying to stay away from the 6.0 AWD's

Just a over priced tahoe in my eyes. Over all good vehicles. My buddy had two but times having issues with towing, not really sure why, rear suspension started to sag and trans temp tends to run real hot while towing. Just my two

Yeah it's James's that's why I'm not too worried about the drivetrain haha, if I have any issues I'll bring it back out there and toss alittle more power at it

I agree but used there all pretty much the same price so why not have the nicer interior and exterior. In my opinion same drivetrain and I really don't tow all the much maybe 4-5 times a year to our river house and back at the end of the season

That is an excellent price for an outstanding truck. My last one was basically this identical truck but a 1995. I rarely drive over 65 mph and I averaged 23 mpg. These trucks don't last long. My 95 sold when a diesel mechanic made me a cash offer I couldn't refuse. People were always trying to pull me over trying to get me to sell it. This one here is cleaner than mine was and I paid 10K.

These trucks run forever. I have found them at the auction for 5k to 10k still. The duramax trucks 8k to 15k depending on the year. Unless you find a 7.3 diesel ford dont even bother with 03 and up fords. Even though you can get them all day long for 6k to 11k you'll spend that much fixing them.
