I'm just curious how much thought goes into placing things and figuring out how to mount them when it comes to your boats... i see a lot of custom rigging and i just think "man thats gotta weigh a TON!" giant brackets you could hang a house from, and even small little cushion mounts for hoses and wiring harnesses... sure 1-2 doesnt weigh much but at 40 of em, you've got yet another pound. then i see people with giant motors and blowers and intercoolers and risers, etc... prolly another 500 pounds of stuff in the back.
also do you try to balance the weight when placing things in your boat? for example i have a battery on one side, so i put my fuel pump, filter, alternator, on the other. does this make any bit of difference in ride, especially in a small boat like mine?
i was thinking of getting an aluminum plate across my transom. my dad had one in his boat and it worked out really nice. rather than drilling 500 holes to mount things i could drill and tap into the aluminum rather than the transom itself. but then i start thinking about how much crap im installing.
