welcome to the site.
Post up some pictures to show us what we're talkin about here!
-
Let's see it! ;D
-
THATS THE BEST PICS I HAVE RIGHT KNOW
-
doesnt look too bad....needs a little TLC.....but not worth "dumping" ...at rebuild it....that will...
A) Get you back on the water
-or-
B) Make it easier to sell for more so you can get something ya want (thats if youre not happy with it)
Of course ....this is all being said without knowing the structure of the boat....hows the stringers? the transom? etc...
-
Rod, calling Dr. Rod. Patient waiting in the I.E. Patient looks very yellow but can probably be brought back to life for a few sixpacks and some elbow grease. Go get em Sanford.
-
TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THE HULL IS FINE NO CRACKS. EVERYTHING WAS FINE TILL I LET SOME IDIOT WORK ON IT NEVER THE SAME SINCE. MIND YOU THIS IS A GUY THAT SAYS A LITTLE WATER IN THE OIL IS OK ITS A BOAT. I'M NOT SURE AT THIS POINT WHAT TO DO WITH IT ?

Did you like the boat when you had it running?
They are not worth very much if they don't run.
-
looks like it could be a fun little boat, i am digging the engine cover/scoop ;D
-

MIKE
I think your caps lock is driving me insane. :D
What specificaly is going on with your 460? Has it been taken apart? is it failrly a fresh engine with broke parts, is it tired, etc. etc etc???
-
i'm sure i just want to totally rebuild and some wiring and she should be good to go any ideas? any ideas where i should take it?
-
SLEEKCRAFT BUILT A VERY GOOD BOAT . I DONT REMEMBER THERE PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTIC THOUGH . RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE BETTER BOAT BUILDERS FROM WHAT I REMEMBER . COORSHEAVY HAS A DAYCRUISER AND THOSE WERE RIGHT UP THERE WITH THE BEST DAY CRUISERS OF ITS DAY . THE HARD WORK LIKE FIBERGLASS , PAINT AND UPHOLSTERY ARE THE DEAL BREAKERS FOR ME . A WIRING HARNESS FROM HARDIN MARINE OR GS MARINE ARE CHEAP AND FORDS ALSO ARE RELATIVLY CHEAP TO GET RUNNING .

Smart@$$ >:D
Now look what you starter; It had to be you that started the SHOUTING.

Getting back on track ...
daddydoride: that boat looks like a keeper to me; I don't see anything yet in this thread about what's specifically wrong, except the mention of water in oil; if that's all it is, perhaps just a replacement of head gaskets; you can do that yourself in a day (I've only done it once and it's not a hard job).
-
That also might be condesation that does gather on boat motors . Change the oil . Run it . see what happens .

That's probably the best way to start.
I wish I was closer, I'd check it out with you.
-
Water in the oil could just be a intake manifold gasket! That what was wrong with mine. From what I ws told they tend to blow out around the rear water passage in the intake.
-
daddydoride,
First off, welcome to the site ;D
Next, What changed after it was repaired previously?
How much water is in the oil?
-Discolored?
-Milkshake?
Does it run?
-How long has it been setting with water in the oil?
I'm not too far from you, maybe we can get together and at least determine if it is saveable.
-
motor is out but sitting in boat, bad knock before it came out no oil pressure half the time. oil was milk shake but that was heads and put new heads and gasket. alot of new parts just the wrong people putting them together
-
With knock and intermittent no oil pressure it is definatly recommended to have it torn down and inspected. Then rebuild, replacing what is needed. If the heads were recently overhauled that might save you some $$$. But you still want to have them checked.
I've had good machine work done by Dougans in Pedley (if there still around). I don't have a good recommendation for some place that will do the complete job.
-
bad knock before it came out
My knock turned into a rod through the oil pan; needs a good lookin' at; check the bearings, torque, etc.

You have got to remember to NOT hit the nitrous when it is already knocking ;D
