It looks like you have two dumps( water exiting the engine) and another passage to feed the headers.. What intake manifold is that? I like that setup.... Also it sounds like you just put a pressure gauge on the intake mani. If you did I doubt you will need the pressure relief valve with the two dumps... I would run it before spending 60 bucks on something you don't need... At least not right now.by the way u got a nice boat
Thanks! My fiancee and myself spent a lot of time looking all over for a floater and found this one in my backyard, bought it on the spot, we stole it for the price. My family grew up drag racing so this engine is a perfect fit for me. It is my first jet boat, had a Bayliner first, never do that again. But what turned me on to this water pressure issue was my first time out I sucked up tons of "Lake Salad" and even though the engine never overheated my nice Bassett's O/T did and I blued them. So learning from my mistake I stumbled upon a few things. 1st didnt know what water pressure was to the block but when I removed my headers I found 2 freeze plugs pushing out, freeky. and originally the boat just had a -10 feeding the engine and a -8 return and a tap for the water injection. So obviously this engine had crazy water pressure and now it has what you described, it just makes total sense and best yet I can control my exhaust water now to turn on at the correct rpms, I am holding off on a pressure regulator. The intake I'm undecided about, that and the micro mini carb. The intake is a Torker 2.0 with the twisted top and the carb is a massive 600 cfm-too small for a 454. The engine is fresh with just over 20 hours on it so this winter I'm going to steel hose everything, get a victor jr. intake and 750 mech dbl pumper.
