my whirlpool is over ten years old, spent less than 80 bux keeping it running the past 5 years.

We bought a Kenmore washer 3 yrs ago. It is a first Gen design, top load with no agitator spindle in the center. About once a year a coin gets caught in the plastic valve that controls hot/cold and shatters it. The extended warranty has no replaced in for a third time at no charge. Sears has a "scratch and dented" store in Corona that blows out all new stuff at pretty good discounts. Does a good job on cleaning the clothes too. :thumbup: for a store that still delivers good service.

What is the model number and what is it doing? I have a really difficult time with saying it cannot be fixed..... :sly:
New stuff is crap, I have a 2 year old dishwasher by Kitchen Aid that toasted a motor, then replaced that and it seized in 6 months :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Took it all the way apart and found that the impeller was a plastic POS and the shaft of the motor was just threaded and would blow through the end of the plastic impeller...Being Mr. Fixit, I made a brass bushing and fit it so the impeller would bottom on the bushing and not the end of the shaft, been working ever since... :thumbup:
My washing machine stopped doing anything at all, replaced the little plastic coupling and va va voom, away she went, then had to replace some cogs in the agitator, works like new...I don't think I spent more than $20 on parts....
Everything can be repaired, it just depends on how many things are wrong with it..

I kinda gotta agree with GT on this. We sell new appliances everyday, and beleive me, it is the biggest headache in the world!. I recently had an LG tech in the store to fix a defunctive $3200 fridge that we had replaced for a customer (Ass still hurts on that one). He told me, and then showed me, all 17 access panels on the thing for service.
Holy Crap! The things are that prone to problems you had to design 17 access panels into it? My old Whirlpool has one, and that's for the filter............ :screwy:
