Whining Noise
« on: August 07, 2013, 10:24:02 PM »
I just got back from a river trip and now my 04 Silvy has a whining squealing noise from the right rear wheel. It intermittently matches the wheel rotation and seems to not be a brake issue. As I said I was at the river so it was submerged several times. Is there something I need to relube maybe parking brake bearing? Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it 2wd its the uni bearing hub thing. Replace it now. My was squealing for a month or so and one day almost fell off haha.

It could be the brake dust inside the rotor from parking break. The sealed bearings are up front. Might need to replace rear pads

My 04, 07, 09 and 11 all had rear disc with the internal drum. What size we talking about? 1500 or 2500. If you have rear disc make sure the caliper slides freely, could of got some sand or what ever causing the caliper to hang up when the brakes are released.

It's an 04 1500 rear disc and I checked for debris sprayed the whole thing down with brake cleaner. I'm hearing that the little drum set up for the parking brake is a pretty common issue so that's what I'll check next thanks guys.
