Got a job and heading to Irwindale
« on: August 10, 2015, 10:30:45 AM »
Hi all, yeah it's me, Ken, the more lurker than poster, but figured I needed to touch base. As most of you know, my little girl Bella is fighting Cancer, and you all gave me tons of support and we appreciate that. I mostly just post on IG, and a little while ago started on FB too. I don't have a good excuse for not keeping you all updated here, especially with all the support I received from you, some of it is laziness, some of it is traveling to job interviews, some of it is just emotionally draining talking/typing about it.
ANYWAYS, Bella is currently and still in remission, she gets a spinal, Chemo/steroid injection once a month, and takes Chemo pills daily. She is in good spirits, and just went to a week long camp for kids with cancer. Things are going good.......

Now, for my next bit of news. Most of you are aware also, that I'm originally from SanDiego, and for the past 30 years have been trying to get back to So.Cal. Well, I'm heading back... I got a great job lead from my friend Troy Ladd (Hollywood HotRods). He heard of a position at Pertronix' in their Header R&D department. (They own Dougs, Patriot, & JBA companies) and got me in touch with them.... I got the job.
So, on Thursday I'm heading down and I start on Monday. I'll be living in our RV for a while, parking in Walmart parking lots, and will just work, save money, and buy a house. Bella and my wife will come down in a year, (Bella claims survivorship in August of 2016) it will be hard being away from them, but we've discussed this for years, and it's for the better of us in the long run.
I'm supper excited, super scared, and really don't want to be away from my wife and Bella, but it's our new and fresh start. Something I've been trying to do for a long time, and got a good job.
Hopefully I'll finally get to meet up with the SoCal Jetboat Crew.

The east shore rv park at puddingstone lake In San Dimas allows for month to month living .. My uncle stayed there for 1.5 years in his 5th wheel while waiting on his house to be built.

It's not a bad place I take my trailer there every once in a while just for a change of scenery

OO CP   thanks.

Jonnyboy92  I emailed them a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard back. A few places I've talked with requires the RV to be 5 years old or less for long term staying. Mines an '05 so it excludes me. Maybe someone will have a "parking spot" on the side of their house or shop and I can rent it for a few hundred a month?? No hookups are needed. I have one of our guys on here in Riverside that offered a spot, but that's a hell of a drive each way.

You might have to just call them as they are always pretty busy .

My uncle said it wasn't bad staying there

I actually talked to them today. It's $805.00 a month, but they to want an RV that is under 10 years old, and needs to be 26 feet to stay seasonal. I'm at 10 years and 2 feet under size, so they won't let me stay.
Oh well, I'll keep looking. That's the 3rd place with a 10 year cutoff. But I appreciate the help and info.

Thanks 5150. I'll keep it in mind. If nothing else pans out I'll get in touch with you. I'll only be sleeping in it at night, and on the weekends so it's an option.

Woo hoo, I'm here.
Fires down here. Came from Washington and the majority of the state is on fire also.  Drove down thru Idaho at first and had to backtrack as the freeway was shut down because of fires there too. Hope all the firefighters are safe.

I'll find out the schedule tomorrow.  The last guy worked 4-10's which is what I worked at my last job, so I'm good with that.  Would be great to grab a ride, driving this RV around as a home/commuter is O.K., but not exactly ideal.

Congrats Ken that's good to hear.  I have used Doug's headers since I was just starting out.  Real good products.   I used to work in Irwindale driving in from an hour east, you get used to it, but I would n't want to do it in a moho.   Glad things are looking up for you!
