what tools are the best ? I keep breaking my sockets I use craftsmen & husski stuff what is a good tool supplier

If they will replace what you break, keep using them.

Snap on, Mac, Matco are all great brands, but are difficult to get if you're not on a route stop.

IMHO. SK and Proto have the best "Bang for the buck" tools....I own a lot of Snap On tools and to be totally honest, I don't feel the high price is worth it...Sort of like a Rolex when a Timex works just fine.

I always followed my old man and used Craftsman for years because they always replaced them no questions asked. These days, Sears isn't around every corner. Since I work for Home Depot, AND, theres one around every corner (one 1 1/2 miles from my house), I buy Husky when I can. Same deal, replacements instantly with no hassles!

Used Strap ons when I was in QC at U-Haul, 'cus the rep was there 3 days a week to replace crap and always recalibrated my torque wrenches for free when I wanted. Sold all those tools to another guy there when I left.

Truth be told, can't really see a huge quality difference in any of them and I have broken all of them at one point or another. I'ts gonna happen, just need to know their guarantee and whether the retailer is nearby or not. If Sears is around the corner, buy Craftsman, If Home Depot, buy Husky, if (cough) Lowe's, buy Kobalt. I never said that officially! .

But like Ray said go with whats conveinent for you. The price you pay for snap on and the rest, to me the others are just as good and like was said before also if you are on a route than you can exchange them, if not your sol, just my .02

X2 on checking the guarantee. I broke the locking collar on a Craftsman torque wrench once. But because the part was plastic they said it was not covered by their guarantee. They changed their minds when I started getting pissed and made them bring out the manager. Not as costly as Snap-On etc... but still about $100. Just a word of caution.

Here's my $.02, when I was a pro. brake tech. I used snap on because they broke a lot less. There were certain places that an impact socket just wouldn't fit so I was forced to use chrome which would break with repeated use with impact gun. I would break Snap On sockets about once a week where the Craftsman would break every two jobs. So I ended up with two Snap On 17mm sockets and about 5 Craftsman so I didn't have to go to Sears everyday to replace them and I could go a week if I missed the Snap On guy. Now that I don't spin wrenchs for a living I probably have 60% more Craftsman than Snap On. I still buy Snap On for specialty tools when I can. I have a few MAC and Matco tools, but they seem bulkier than Snap On. Personal preference, I know guys who swear by MAC.

So much of what you buy off of the "truck" has to do with the rep dealing the tools.

In the last 5 years we have gone through 3-4 Mac guys (currently nobody coming in), 3 Cornwell guys (currently nobody coming in), 2 Matco guys, and 1 Snap On Guy.

Personally I buy what I can from the Matco guy because the Snap On guy is kind of an a$$ (if you don't owe him money, he acts like he really doesn't want you on his truck).

This is soooooo true. One of my coworkers used to be a snap on dealer and he quit because is snap on is making it too hard for the dealers to make money anymore. I thought about doing it when I retire from Cali, but after looking at what it takes and the franchising fees, there's no way!!!

for the house i use craftsman or what ever is cheap, for work i use strap on

and matco, i make my living with these tools and cant afford for them to break, and when they do the truck comes every week and i just trade them in. no problems with either truck.
