I have a 78 charger with a Berkeley  jet that had a 460 in it the motor is blown and I'm looking  to put in a 350 in it, I'm looking for something that can handle pulling the kids around on a tub and reliable for those Laughlin runs  any suggestions

So you don’t have a 350 to put in it?  Why make the swap? It would be a lot of work to convert it to a small block Chevy. Plus, finding mounts and other marine parts to make a SBC work may be tough to find.

If all you are doing is pulling tubes and stuff just find a stock 460 and put it in.....long as you take it easy and not rev it out to the max you should be fine

I've had the boat for 20 years and don't have much of the old motor left over.been able to put a few $ together for a motor and not sure what my best option is, sounds like putting a 460 is the best option. I wasn't sure if dropping a 350 in would be cheaper or how meany modifications would be necessary to make it work.

I would think a direct replacement would be easier and cheaper. Do you have any of the old ford stuff, motor mounts, exhaust etc? If not, Keep an eye on the classified section or local or SoCal Craigslist for parts. There are a few shops around that might have used parts you might need. Jim Brock from Cyclone Speed and Marine posts stuff here quite often.
A small block Chevy might be cheaper to build, but like I said, finding marine parts might be tough. Good luck.
