Title: Multi-site boat bash '09
Post by: crewchief22 on March 20, 2009, 09:07:44 PM
OK, here's the deal, I've been visiting over on www.texashotboats.com and got talking about the Texas boys coming west for a river run.  http://texashotboats.com/forums/index.php?topic=8146.msg91542#msg91542

I also know that the guys from www.skagenboats.com (jrork) have been talking about trying to come south
http://www.socaljetboats.com/index.php?topic=5716.0

I was thinking it would be cool to make a multi-day, multi-location, multi-(web)site gathering.

I was thinking of a day on the Parker Strip, a day at Big River, and a day at Blythe/Martinez.

Invade the Blue Water Casino for a place to stay, easy on to Parker, short trip to Big River and only 45 minutes to Blythe.

Opinions/comments?

I'm unsure of where ANY of those are, but sounds like a GREAT idea, kindof a boating road trip.

Well, the good thing is that there will be plenty of trucks around to help launch so the RV'er don't have to up-root every time.

it would be cool to get some of the heavy hitters from the other sites over here...that way there is plenty of communication...sounds really cool though!

And 'sides that, Cheif seems to know how to launch everywhere and not even get his tires wet!

I, for one, volunteer my truck for service if this comes about and I'm able to do it.

Yeah, you got stickers! Smart ass.

I, however,  would represent the Dairy Industry, on the other hand.............

Unless Brad comes up with some Black/white spotted SCJB stickers in the mean time.

jrork had suggested Oct for the northern guys, and by trying to get it going now maybe the Texas people will have enough time to prepare for it.

I sent jrork a PM trying to get him involved.

The Northwest guys would go even if there was snow on the damn ground, it's all the guys who live in the 80* average temps that have the sensitivity issue  :screwy:

I'm down, motorhome or not, sound f-n awsome...

Although I'm not from the NW or Texas, I'd be interested in coming down for the tour, because I've never boated in socal (except at elsinore in Jan 09). I have heard all about these locations, and have seen pictures, but probably would not tow down to explore for myself. I'd be much more excited about being guided by some experienced boaters--plus it's always more fun to boat as a group.

On a similar note, I noticed that a number of families from the Banderlog board (legally not a "group", but individual families), are going to meet up at the delta July 31-Aug 1, camping at the Tower Park camp ground. If of the socal boaters might be interested in exploring the San Joaquin/Sacramento delta, and it is an amazing place to boat, with some experienced norcal boaters, you can check it out here http://www.banderlog.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6875
I have done this Tower Park event 3 or 4 times and had a great time boating and meeting other boaters.

Got your PM chief and will post this thread over there............great idea.   I'm thinking most are locking into early October (August and Sept are usually the only good weather months for us up here).

I think this will be big fun. It'd be great to hook up with some south guys, we've got a few boats that'll represent the frigid northerners well. There was already talk of a trip down there, why not make it a BASH !!! Here's a link on our board if you guys wanna keep tabs on what we planning, http://skagenboats.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=24698&sid=4fa7f04f9b423b861632a4ffcdfad6c4#24698

The comment about us wearing wife beaters was hilarious !!! We recently had a party up here, here's a what you up against (https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi134.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fq90%2FDaytonaTunnel%2Fab3b2179.jpg&hash=2e429bb2f0182498fa83664aea9c5a42aa5130be)

We were all meeting for a show and shine early in our season (June..LOL), she was a little late showing up. When she did finally get there we saw some fresh damage to her trailer. Curious we wanted to know what happened. Well it seems the trailer ball decided to loosen itself on the trip, and in the middle of an on ramp it came ALL the way off, sending the boat/trailer zinging into no mans land at 50mph. Nothing terribly hurt, all in all she came away lucky...and with a new name for her boat !!!!

P.S. Yup.....HOT !!!

I am one of the THB guys and I hope we can make this happen. Please let us know if you think this is really going to happen so we can make plans with work sitters and so one. I have two little ones and I do not think they are ready for this trip so I would have to leave them with the folks for the trip.

i wanna start going to blythe (by far the closet part of the river) but i don't know sh!t about it ( where sand bars are, where shallow areas are, where good places to camp are, etc.)

this sounds like an ideal time to make an appearance in blythe. and i'll definitly be at the parker portion too.  ;D

ALSO ...labor day weekend is sept 5-7  so i dont know if you guys are thinking before or after???

JW Blythe is the shit. I learned the low spots and such pretty quick with a guided trip by AQUAHOLIC. I guarantee if we set it up a few days ahead of time, we can give you a guided trip as well. I (we) have a blast everytime out there. Good bunch of people that just enjoy the sun the river a few beers good company and no harassing cops.

ya blythe is awsome and it is damn near 5 hours away from us. but we like it enough to drive there. there are three major camp grounds. Mcintyre where me and my crew reside. there is mayflower up by the ten freeway. just 7 miles from mcintyre. and then riviera. all good places mcintyre has the most grass and it is good fun. live bands on big weekends. just a good time.

the places to hang and drink are pretty obvious just cruse up or down river till you see a big group of boats enjoying some beers and stop and say hi..
