My Intro, Your Free to Jack IT
« on: March 27, 2007, 06:34:06 PM »
Hi Guys and maybe a Lady

I'm Adam and my daughter is Amber. She's 11, driving "Wild Thang" on Lake Casitas (picture). ?Wild Thing? is a 1984 Eliminator Sprint with a BB Chevy turning a Dominator Jet. We?ve had her for about 3 years now. This is my second Eliminator Sprint, 1st one named ?Twisted.? If you know anything about Sprints you?ll know how she got her name. I think that?s one of the reasons Eliminator quit making them. Anyhow, really like your forum here. I guess Brad is the boss so ?Hi? Brad. Been a member of the CF (that?s Corvette Forum for you Ford guys) so pretty much know the deal. CF is allot more strict and I have Grumpy as my C-5 mediator so I?m basically screwed. Is this forum fairly new? I think I looked a wile back and never saw it before. Well, glad your here. Amber her girlfriends and I love to camp and ski and we have a bunch of trips planned and would like company so your all invited, even you Ford guys. Lake Piru is our local hangout but can?t drop in the stand-ups so Lake San Antonio comes a close second. San Antonio is really cool if you have never been there because you can camp water front, leave the boat in the water all night and not worry about it being beached the next morning like Parker. It?s allot more kid friendly then Havabrew on busy weekends. I won?t ramble on any longer. Your welcome to take this thread were every you want. Looking to tag along with a family to Lake Powell in July.

Welcome  ;D

Yes, I am the boss around here and I am pretty light on the rules, but I gotta clean house every once n awhile and keep people in check so the site stays on track or else it will just become a board of useless garbage.

The site is fairly new (Went live in October of 2006) and its off to a pretty good start....I am trying to touch basis of all aspects of (jet) boating.....from boat racing, lake/river boats, full restorations, etc.....you can tell with all of the sections. It does seem spread a bit thin, but it will fill out nicely as it ages.

I just want this to be a fun place with a lot of technical information. Just keep this in mind: This site will only be what you guys make it.

Again, welcome and have fun!

I really like it, this forum. At CF we are not aloud to post Girly Pics, no talking about racing unless it was on a track, bashing strictly prohibited, even Fords, so it?s kinda LAME. You guys don?t know how lucky you are. I?m sure you?ll see more of me and they?ll see less, I?m sure Grumpy will be happy about that. I have been reading all your post for a few days now just to get a feel of it. You all seem like a bunch of cool dudes. Well most of you, LOL. Just kidding. Just to let you all know I have a 95 Mustang GT as a second car. Don?t tell the guys at CF that though. Thanks for your time and effort Brad

Are you sure your not a little to much in touch with your famine side. Talkin about dropin soap and living in the same city with the biggest fairy boat in the land. So what?s the name of your boat, Oh I got it, QM. I thought about trying to hook up with you. Your kid and mine would have a blast. I just don?t think they make a million wheel trailer and there?s no way mines going in the salt. LOL

Corvette Forum got too PC for me and I stopped visiting the site. Sold the Corvette a bit after that. I think my next new car is going to be an 07 Mustang if Dodge doesn't make the Challenger. I'd get another Vette but I need back seats.
And welcome to the sight.  ;D

I just sold the '06 Mustang GT a couple of months ago, you may want to look at those "back seats" (term used loosely).   ;)

Welcome!   ;D

Yours, Mine, Ours
Thats it. Here's thier web site
 http://www.lakesanantonio.net/

Google Earth has a good image for anyone who wants to see.
The north has some wonderfull glass in the morning and late afternoon. Mid day is like any lake.
It's about 3 1/2 hour drive for me. From LA probably 4 1/2 hours.

When I lived South I had never heard of any lakes in the Central except Lake Success which I skied on in 1992. Actually there are some really great lakes and rivers that are as close as the Co. River. They don?t offer the same intensity but all the same eye candy. If you look on Google Earth at Lake San Antonio, it has lots of coves and inlets that can be skied all day. I know I?m talking it up but if you have kids it?s allot safer and the camping accommodation can?t be beat anywhere (Right on the Lake). Plus the high in August is 100, not 115. Check it out. If your just into racing, you would be disappointed.

Same lake. My first jet boat ride (I think) was on San Antonio. I remember one year, during a drought, that you could stand in the middle of the lake and your shorts would be dry. We used to go to Nacimiento also, wasn't as good though. I've never been to Lake Success. marcsrollin's Tahiti has either a San Antonio or a Nacimiento sticker on it. I grew up in King City, about 45 min's north of San Antonio.   ;D

I am glad "Wild Thang " has decided to start his own thread and really just jump in feet first so to speak . This site has alot of traffic and a ton of lurkers and I think with ever person that comes on here and starts to post , the site it's self starts to grow not just in size but in diversity and in my opinion that is what gives a site feet so to speak .

In the last month (In my eyes) we have had the privalage of having some people join who either have or are contributing in a major way to our particular boating scene regardless of drives . The stories some of you guys can tell from the earlier years are worth their weight in gold . The guys who really know there tech or their specialty are invaluable . The only reason I know anything about boating is from taking tips and absorbing all the info from these guys .

I guess that last handfull of boat sodas is really kicking in ! What I'm tryin to say is that regardless of knowledge or experience we are all contributing something and the people here (again , in my eyes ) and the way we carry ourselves is a perfect example of how great it really is . I just wish I had stories as cool as everyone elses .  :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

I can remember when Lake Elsinore was like that. That was were I was introduces to a Jet. My buddies dad had a Sanger with a Berkley and I spent more time behind it than I did in it. They took me to Powell when I was 16 and I was in heaven. I started going to San Antonio because I could put the jetskis in the water with the boat. The VC has no fresh water jetsking. Pyramid Lake is packed and has a limit on skis and boats. Piru, no skis, and Lake Castaic separates skis and boats. Has any one been to Lake Isabella? Looks like you had a project on your hands from your pictures. Nice gel coat.

Thanks Beerjet,

And all the rest of you too. Yaa, I guess l add my little 2 cents. Don't know how much tech help I'll be but I can maybe lead to some one that can help. I'm mostly pay $$$$$$ to the mech and Turn Key. I could never afford to race. As for my stories, How about we leave those in the closet. Okay just One. If you were right below the dam, on the strip, on Sunday, Labor Day weekend in 1991, Yaa that was me. 12 felonies and 6 misdemeanors. Okay, one more. Got 86ed off Paris for doing 85mph. They tried to impound my boat but I had my buddy drive off with my trailer before they could stop him. They couldn?t find a trailer so they had me get my buddy back, only after they tore up the ticket and un-handcuffed me. I sat on that boat dock, handcuffed, holding my boat off the dock from 11:00am to 5:30pm. I was sun burned as hell. Okay one more. Before I had a jet I had a little 16 foot, 1969 Regatta with a 85 Mirc. Nice boat. Any way, I guess I was around 24 or so, my girlfriend and I would go out to Elsinore and just us two would ski all day. We did that all summer long till one day we get pulled over by the ranger. He gives us the routine inspection and then says, ?I?ve seen you two come out here all summer and not once have you had a spotter.? Go get a spotter so I don?t get my but chewed by my boss again. That was cool. Okay, one more. Hay, it?s my thread and I have to intro myself right? I sell the Regatta and buy my 1st Jet. ?Twisted? 1995 Eliminator Sprint. 500HP BB Chevy. I get it a week before Memorial Day weekend. Put it in the water for the 1st time at River Lodge on Tuesday, nobody around for miles. Pull the trailer out as my GF is holding the boat. Go walking down the ramp, GF looking at me, and notice the thing sitting really low in the water. Ever have that thought about forgetting to plug it? It sucks. Barely saved it from sinking right there. So we get the water out and the fish and get it started. Take it up river, shut it off and start floating back down. After about an hour as we just pass the Lodge I go to start it. No Deal. I totally forgot to fill it with gas. We floated all the way to that lake down river from Parker. 4 Hours we floated. I tried swimming it. She was pissed. It was Tuesday so there wasn?t anyone to pull us to Big Bend. Right past Sundance, past that other bar and on down the river we went. So we get down river and finally get a pull to the pumps and don?t have a dollar to my name. Left the wallet in the truck. I had to sell the GF for $20 bucks, well not sell her but she was so pissed off at me she told some old guy on the dock, she?d give him a lap dance naked for $20. He paid and we got back up river. The rest of the trip got better and I learned something. Always bring your girlfriend to the river incase you run out of gas and don?t have any money.

I have another thread "SoCal, Camp, Ski, Kids, and Fun"  It?s in the Events section. Don?t worry I settle down. Now, I guess I?m that old guy on the dock.

Later

Wild Thang,

Just curious, how did you find this site?

-Brad

Last week I started a Yahoo Group called ?SoCal Jet Boat and H2o Ski?  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/socaljetboatandh2oski/?yguid=303650016 .

I had no idea this forum was here. I wanted to see if a link would show up to my Group in Yahoo Search and you guys popped up at the top even before me. The names are so close. So I would say, Yahoo Search. I?m going to leave the group active and divert everyone here with a link if you don?t mind. I would really like to promote a ?Jet Boat Day? at Lake Piru? in June. Make flyers that reference this forum and all. Post up links to the forum on other web sights like Jack FM. I just want to okay it with you 1st. I think as Summer comes closer the site will grow fast and by Sep you maybe big. It?s cool right now how you have a small community. I?d saver in the moment. I like this forum better than the others that are out there. So Cal Jet Boat Forum provides a forum unique to this area, caters to the Jet Boat Lunatic Fringe Community, yes looked at as the outlaws and pirates in the boating community and the freedom to express this personality. Don?t believe me about being outlaws, just apply for full coverage insurance on a Jet. This forum is a mirror image of the community within it. You fly a Skull and X Bonds on the header, Black and White sticker says it all.

well my friend i think your WRONG!!! i am a family man before an outlaw, i dont drink and i race my jet boat in sanctioned events.

my day cruiser has full coverage insurance by my choice and not by some public opinion.

the skull and crossbones is a logo and thats all... if you or somone else chooses to see it as something more, then that's on you/them

this is of course is my experience/opinion on this matter and does not reflect scjb.com

i would love to get together with you and or others at pyramid just let me know

Just callin it like I sees it. I?ve been wrong before but you did say you were an outlaw, just family 1st.  I think this is about who maybe worse. Don?t drink either, don?t race my boat, but I have no family. That puts us both 2 out of 3. Love to hook up. Not sure about Paris though. I?m an outlaw there. Aaaaa, what the heck. Maybe they forgot. Whoo hoo! My first post ... been lurking for about a week and like what I see. I have been skiing and tubing behind an 18ft Horizon that my parents bought around 1975. Most of the time it had a 400 chevy w/ a Z/28 crossram and a Corvette cam. Metalflake purple then, kind of a PeptoBismol pink now. Homemade rack for skis over the motor. Usually carries 2guys 3chicks n one skier. One time we actually got 5 people up behind it at one time. No sh*t. My grandfather owned the 500 acres just down river from Water Wheel until the early 1980's but that is long gone. Don't get me started on the Indians that run things now.
Last Sept. I bought a beautiful 23ft jet daycruiser from a marine detailer in LHC. I have been looking for a boat like this for over 7 years. My dream boat except for the Olds motor but that can and will be changed. Now me and the family spend most of the time at Perris and Elsinore. I don't want to ramble with stories of youth and debauchery but let me just say that some of my fondest memories have happened on the Colorado river and I just can't get it out of my system. Hell I've even eaten the freshwater clams from right out in front of the campsite. Ive seen the water so low that I could walk out to the center of the river where that tree stump has been for 40 yrs and set up my chair and icechest. I have had one of those 80ft cottonwood trees fall and crush my grandpa's mobile home while I was in it. I  (we) got so drunk once that no one tied up the boat and it was over 2 miles down river when we found it and pulled it back w/ a stand up JetSki.
If ya see a red and white daycruiser on the water locally and the driver is wearing one of those Chinaman hats & drinking a Pepsi w/ 2small kids sitting on the swim deck, idle on over. We love to party.
