I was in Seoul, South Korea and got a phone call from the hospital where my mom was. They said that she was unresponsive to them, she was breathing fine and her heart rate was elevated and her blood pressure was high. They called 911 and had her shipped off to an emergency room. I called my brother and sister to try and find out what the hell was going on.
When my brother got back to me he said that mom was alert, smiling and talking to him, her vitals were all okay and that things looked like she would be back in the nursing home by this weekend.
He called me back an hour or so later and said that she had a massive, very intense seizure. She wasn't breathing right, they were going to intubate her yet again.
I said, that mom has been through enough torture, that she wouldn't make it home and that we had to let her go. I asked that he told her I love her, hold her and that the hospital give her as much morphine so that she wouldn't feel any more pain.
About an hour or so later he texted me.
"she's gone"
I'm going to miss you mom, I love you and you were the best mom that anyone could ever hope for.
I'm back home now, I'm making plans to bury my mother.
The day I never hoped would happen, has happened.
I'll see all you guys out there next season.
I guess this will happen to all of us sooner or later, it really sucks. Make sure and give your mom a hug and a kiss this holiday season and make sure that she knows you love her. You never know when things will end up like this.

So sorry to hear that Ben, just think she is in a better place and no longer has to suffer and be in pain. My prayers are with and your family I know the past two years have been rough for you.

I am not a religious person at all, but wanted to take a second and tell you how sorry I am for your loss, not just for the loss of your mother, may she find peace, but what hit me most is that you did not get the opportunity to say good bye.
Just reading your heartfelt post, you can tell that your bond was a strong one and I can tell you that you can rest assured she knew how much she was loved.
From our family to yours, I hope you can at least find her loss to be a peaceful one.
As for giving my mom a hug, you can bet your bottom dollar I will.. My 96 year old grandmother too...

Just reading your heartfelt post, you can tell that your bond was a strong one and I can tell you that you can rest assured she knew how much she was loved.

I'm sorry for your loss, I know how it feels not being able to tell them you love them for the last time and it's hard. I'll be including you and your family in my prayers. You made a hard decision for her well being and don't second guess it ever.
It's part of life and just keep in mind she's In a better place now.

I thank you all for your kind words, this place has become like a second home for me. I've met some really awesome people here. You guys are like an extended family for me. I just want you guys and gals to remember that we only have one chance on this ride, we all have to get off sooner or later. Enjoy the time you have and make sure that the people you care about and are close to you really know it.
I'm sure my mom knew how I felt, when I talked to my brother I said to make sure to tell her that I love her, to hold her, and to pump her full of morphine so she felt no pain.
We fought long and hard, we tried really hard to get her home, but the fates aligned against us, such is life.
Don't ever hesitate, don't ever question, don't ever think twice about things between you and your loved ones. Tell them how important they are and do it right now.
Again, thank you guys, you're awesome. I'm so glad I found this place.

I usually don't respond to threads like these because whatever I type can't change anything...Glenn pretty much hit it on the head, as usual. Sorry for your loss, keep in mind that she's in a happy place now, and remember the good times.....at least that's my plan for when the day comes.
