This is the engine in my 1984 Pace Arrow; 468" 4-bolt big block, steel crank, powdered metal rods, forged Arias pistons, Banks Powerpak exhaust, Air Sensors inc. EFI, COMP Roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer, Stainless Manley valves, Crane cams 270 hydraulic, Jacobs ignition going thru a Turbo 400, makes 420 real wheel HP and actually gets about 12MPG if you keep it at 65MPH.

Nothing on this motorhome is origional, I guess you could say my dad has an illness too ;D He did 90% of the origional restoration.

Love to see peoples faces when I pass them going uphill towing a boat, pretty fun.

That would be cool....My dads freind has a Vortec supercharged 454 Bounder and I can pull him until about 70, then he just goes into overdrive and leaves me like an ugly stepchild. >:D

My dads motorhome is a 40' Blue Bird with a 3208 intercooled Cat and an Allison, talk about a pissed off motorhome :o

mines got a cat and alison but i dont think she is running all that well. there is no turbo guage so i am not even sure if i am making boost cause she can barely get her own fat ass up the grades out here.hahah..

i need to get her to a diesel mech and see whats up before glamis season starts.

I changed the Cat over to synthetic oil and my dad had Cat (my cousin works for a Cat shop) dial it in, the difference was astounding, I think the boost was about 10lbs. before the tune, now runs at about 15lbs., this thing cruises right along at 70 and doesn't even notice hills.

If your RDP coach has a rear mounted radiator, the most common cause of running warm is excessive debris in radiator fins and built up between the radiator and air to air cooler (turbo cooler).  You can try washing it out with a garden hose but most times we have to remove the radiator and air to air cooler for service.  Have the radiator rodded out and have the air to air pressure tested (leaks are a loss of boost).  Most coaches are about 4-6 hours labor plus the radiator sublet costs, exspect to pay 1000.00-1200.00.

for that price i will hold out a little longer. maybe pressure was it a bit. i def want to install a boost guage to see if it is even boostin or not. it should have more power i believe.

once the new buggy is done i might have some extra cash to get someone to look at the rv.

I'm a new MOHO owner and want to get into the 440 on my 32 foot class A. How the heck are you guys yanking the engine? Out the bottom?  Right now my rig is a gutless pig.

Anyone want to make some money on the side and repair my electrical system? It has gremlins.  :banghead:

Every 440 motorhome I have ever driven ran like a bat out of hell >:D, the trick is to get the Thermoquad carb running dead on balls accurate or change it out to a Quadrajet, sounds lame but these things like both carbs, they also respond well to headers, best so far for fit and performance are the Tri Wye's (Doug Thorley), also yes the motor can come out the front on a class "C" but on an "A" they must drop out the bottom, crossmember and all, we had the P30 chassis down to about 3 hours having the engine on the ground (no beer involved is a huge help) ;D  Those 440's are mean bastards...A quick thing to check, does the trans. have all the gears, I've seen them loose first gear without realizing it and the just can't get rolling for anything...

We got it down to about 2 hours with the straight axle Workhorse chassis.  Bring it into the shop, get it raised and on stands, disconnect the brake lines and 4 leaf spring bolts, then roll out the complete axle assembly on its own tires.  Dump fluids while disconnecting trans bolts, engine cross member & cooler lines.  Lower out of coach on oversized trans jack.

Yeah, It has 1st.  It probably just needs some TLC.  It ran pretty good from Menefe to Rialto.  Before I do anything with it I want to get the wiring fixed, the dash is dark, and half the gauges are either pegged or not working.

The 440's love headers, I've had great luck with the hooker 4-1 with 2 inch primaries (they make em for the motorhomes).

For cam, run the crane .647/.494 with the hi intensity lifters and a Performer . If you can, get some stealth heads.

It will run really good.
