I am only going to say this...

Night racing.

Dusty conditions...

Black driving suit...

Hot head driver pissed off that someone with more experience got the best of him..

He had no reason to exit his car IMHO.. Cooler heads always prevail (in this case, unfortunately, live).

Tragic accident. These people trying to make Smoke out to be the devil are a bunch of retarded toothless uneducated idiots.
Your going to sit there and tell me he hit him on purpose? Really. Ridiculous.

I feel really horrible for everyone involved, there is no winner... Tony will never be the same.

First I will say its a shame someone died. Second of all I was always taught not to run out into traffic, in the dark, wearing mostly black. Wait til its over and fight it out in the pits. I know those cars have a big blind spot in the right front do to the huge wing. Just going by what I saw on you tube and my opinion only. Like I said its awful someone had to die.

I have this to say, I race.. So I know that you vision inside a race car is impaired, you have a helmet on, mud on the shield, roll bar down tubes to right

& left, lights in your eyes, lack of lighting at all... I can go on. Sad that a up & coming racer was killed in a completely preventable accident. Tony would have never risked

a life like that. he might have had been distracted by the emergency crew just to the left and never seen him at all. Standing in front of moving race cars in a black fire

suit & helmet at night on a dimly lit dirt track was not a good idea.. PERIOD :(

You know, it saddens me to read some of the shit on FB about the accident... We here in the US definitely  have more than outr fair share the worlds stupid.

I have now watched all three videos of the accident and have not seen even a slight hint at what these mental giants have seen, they say that Tony swerved toward him.... Don't see it. Can't verify it...

They say he blipped the throttle as he passed by... Don't hear that either, what I do hear is the rpm pick up as he went over him, the bump likely caused unintentional throttle movement.

They are saying "I know he could see him" really?, how many winged sprint cars have you driven, at night, with lights in your face (look at the shadows of the safety crew) with a fouled visor on your helmet?

Someone needs to tell these ignorant dipshits to STFU

Rant complete...

The same mental giants on the race today was complaining about the metal guard rails to the big accident at Watkins glen today and they worked perfect. They kept the cars on the track and everyone walked away so they did what they were designed to do. What are they supposed to line the guard rails with pillows and feathers?

From personal experience I know that when the yellow flies, your attention goes to checking gauges and getting ready for the restart... Not looking for a person on the track!

The actions of the driver caused the incident, but I kind of hold NASCAR responsible because these young drivers see the big guys do it and think it's OK.

I feel the same. The throttle blip I heard was, like Glen said, unintentional movement(from the car "bouncing"), or might have been the car in front of Stewart.
As horrible as it sounds, shouldn't have gotten out of the car. Ward would still be alive.

My local track, most problems would be delt with in the pits or under a green flag. Most all issues would end with beer and pizza. Sad to see, but the safety equipment doesn't do anything for you outside the car.
