Title: need help with exhaust.(what kind is this)

i am needing to install logs and snails on this boat but it does not look like it is going to bolt right up. anyone have any expierence with this what am i going to have to do here.

that pic is not of the inside. what do you want a pic of? what did it used to have do you know what they are called or have a pic of what they looked like

LOL, yeah, it's late, I fat fingered the keyboard....I meant inside.

Glenwood made some crazy aluminum tube risers, I will see if I can scare up a picture, my bud had a vee drive powered Schiada that had them, they looked sooooo damn cool... :thumbup:

Glenwood, or maybe Hardin make a taller snail, install the logs then clock the snails to meet the existing holes.


EDIT* You're going to need some angle pieces, maybe some 45* to run from the log to the transom

not sure what blue boat you are talkng about. but this is not repainted or jelled. i will post another pic

this is the best pic i have of the inside. basicly i need to put snails on this boat i just want to be prepaired when i go down to do it

Similar to the item number 707's, but longer, gotta ask my pop...His memory is much better than mine for that kind of stuff...

Skip means rotate them at an angle, seen it done, but IMHO does not look right...I can make you some copper tubes to adapt normal snails if you need, lemmeknow...
I did a '67 Stevens like that, the outlets came out on the extreme edges of the transom.... :thumbup:

I'm not seeing normal snails, even rotated 90 degrees, makin that! Just me, maybe. Funny Glenn mentioned Schiada, didn't Nicks pops' old Schiada have O/T headers that were SCAREY close to that center spacing?

It's a v-drive , get the year and make and ask v-drive video if he has any pic's you could look at. That guy is the v-drive historian!

For what it's worth Tony, I've only ever seen them with the typical v-drive drop down elbows and "flex" hose to the exhaust tip.
Whether they are angled outward (The way I've almost always seen it) or inward really makes no diffrence.
Eddie Marine sells cast aluminum exhaust elbows but they $$$, otherwise...
Otherwise running the "flex" hose from elbow to the tips would be the 40 y/o way to do it.

It's supposed to but I have yet to see a "flex" exhaust hose actually "flex" that much.

Omar is on the right track. I'm thinking you could make your own elbows. Find 3" u bend tube and cut in half and weld back together with a little extra tubing between em to get the right S bend to get the ports lined up. A little straight hose to connect it all and you're set. Probably want to powder coat tube once its all welded to reduce rust. What do you guys think???? Did something similar for custom cold air intake. Figure it should work for exhaust too.

Eddie Marine also sells SS elbows and straight section in SS.
I'd try a single piece of hose to cut down on the connections and chances for a leak after a bumpy ride.

Ive had a couple of Vdrives were the logs have the water cooled angled tips instead of snails, then it hose or s/s to the transom tips.
