Everybody's looks to be busy with new engines for their boats or getting new trucks and such, just had to show off the new engine for my '41 Buick. Bringing it home today, pic is from the guys ad.

263 cubic inches of raw, throbbing, asphalt ripping, push you deep in the seat, snap your neck back, 1952 Buick straight eight.

My '41 has the factory dual carbs and exhaust on it already. It's really nice stocker and at times I want to make a mild custom out of it and other times I just want to leave it be and build something else.

You know I was just snooping through one of the coolest hot rod sites on the net this morning ( ) and I keep going back to this guy. I have most of the pieces to do something in the same vein but with a 25 T bucket instead of the 26-27. This is one of my favorite modifieds ever and someday I'm going to go met this Schrader guy that built it. I have a set of NOS Winfield model N 2" sidedraft carbs that I would use instead, and a set of Kelseys or a set of adjustable spoke Plymouth 18 inch wires too. Have everything but the frame I really like and this morning I got a pm, on that great hot rod site, from a guy that might know someone that wants to sell one....I dunno Skip, this roadster REALLY does it for me.

Mike is a hell of a guy ( he's a member of The Board ya know) He's got a cool shop in Pomona I think, if anyone
can help you with that tank engine, he can. I say you take your pile of 23/24 sheet metal and get crackin'! It doesn't take much, just time, and some money, not lots of money, just enough 

Uh, yeah. I know he's a member of 'the board', that's the cool site I was talking about.

The last roadster I built out of parts ended up a feature car in one of the hop up annuals, you're right, didn't take too much money but lots of time.

There is a guy that lives up here and runs El Mirage & Bonneville with a beautiful STEEL 32 roadster and a Buick 8, I'll try and find some pics, it's insane. Next time I go to Squeak's shop I'll get his name and stuff for you.

Sounds like Mell Tull? He lives up north by Dan Iandola. I've spoked to him several times to pick his brain. Very cool guy, holds the record at B-vill at 179 and change with the straight 8 in the street roadster class with the car you mentioned, an ex coupe.

I've been a straight eight fan for a long time, first old car was a 39 Opera coupe back in '75.

His car made the cover of Tex Smiths old Hot Rod Mechanix back in '89.

You guys are awesome. The first OLD car I ever was fascinated with was my neighbors friends old Buick straight 8. I was 8-9 and thought it was the coolest thing in the world not having to wear a seatbelt. I can still remember the drone of the straight 8 exhaust from the back seat of the car. At that time I could hardly see out the window. Perhaps you guys might know my old neighbor... Car actually looked a lot like your's rigger. I got a ride in it during the shoot of a Mercedes Benz Commercial. My neighbor was the director.
