Ive been reading that. Cant figure out why the government keeps trying to pass laws to protect us from ourselves. Having kids in vest I fully support, but if someone wants to risk their own life....Who effin cares!

Another waste of our tax dollars!  :banghead:

Ray

That would be a good idea ray!

Lake Mead will be a testing bed for the year 2012! after the spike in the cost of using lake mead they are going to be doing the "test" for 2012!!!! Idk what the heck im gonna do, because i dont want to wear a vest...us boaters as a whole need to stand our ground and fight back! if everyone would stick together we can be heard! There is a facebook page floating around that is fighting this as well!

The US Army Core of Engineers aren't the only ones looking at doing this.   If this one goes through, anyone in a 16' Tahiti would have to have a vest on, but if you had an 18' Tahiti you wouldnt need it.   :screwy:  This is going to be a mess

The Life Jacket Workgroup recommends to the National Boating Safety Advisory Council (NBSAC) that it should advise the US Coast Guard
to pursue a mandatory life jacket wear regulation for all persons underway a) on board watercraft less than 18 feet in length, b) all
personal watercraft, and all manually‐powered vessels (canoes, kayaks, rowboats, etc.) regardless of length.   Although each individual
group member had a particular preference for the threshold length at which life jackets should be rquired, the final vote in an attempt to
reach consensus on the scope of a proposed regulation reflected an 11‐to‐2 majority (85% of those present) in favor of the less than 18
foot proposal.

I say.....and this is just a thought, when they do the Mead test, we all show up in force with open headers, noone pays the lake use fee, topless women, out of current reg boats, no throwables or soundmakers, peeing off the bow........... and........well you get the idea...... ;)

Ray

Is this friggin SERIOUS? There is more than 6 times the number of motorcycles registered in Az to the number of boats.............couple that with the number of deaths associated with both, 30 times the number of deaths on motorcycles and theres not a peep of a helmet law..........

They must figure we're pussies, unlike the bikers............. ;)

If your boat is less than 18 ft, add swim platform and an extsion to the bow.

In Alabama, you have to have a boating license to be able to operate a power boat.

Maybe when the government shutsdown and we fire the nonessential gov employees, the remainder will have to work on essential things.

HA! Invasion's not necessary, Gord! I DO however beleive that NAFTA should include a "Free Canadien and Mexican beer for all Americans"  addendum :sly:

And what would be wrong with having a "First Bimbo"??? First Lady might be pushing things a tad........

Ah hell, there's so many skeletons in my closet I wouldn't even vote for myself........ :screwy:

this is B.S......isnt the role of the goverment to represent the voice of the american people? not make irrelevent laws that go against the voice of the american people(boating americans). i agree 150% on what this guy said over on PB....

"How about they let me take care of me. I'm sure I care more about my personal safety then they ever will, so just let me decide what's best for me."

I wasn't gonna bring this up, but since someone already kinda did..........

Why is it that the same government that would have NO PROBLEM Drafting my ass, then with minimal training, throw an automatic weapon and several destructive devices in my hands, purposely put me in harms way in a foreign country, such as we did in Vietnam and now in Iraq, just without the draft part, to accomplish something only THEY think is important. At the SAME FRIGGIN TIME, tell me I'm too stupid and/or irresponsible to drive a car without a seatbelt, ride a motorcycle without a helmet, or ride in a boat without a lifevest (And the plethora of other crap we're supposed to carry) ??????

Am I the only one who sees it this way?   :screwy:

Don't get me wrong, I'm as patriotic as the next guy, and thank every Vet I see. (Embarass the kids at the airport when I shake every uniformed soldiers hand I see and thank them). But, really?!?!

If they're really THAT concerned for our safety, then why not this...........EVERY political figure gives up their Secret Service guys protecting their asses and put them into local law enfocement at full pay. Their only job is to protect OUR asses. That's roughly 4500 agents, 90 per state, who's only job is to save our ass at any cost, unlike the PoPo......... Hows THAT for tax money at work?

You just won my vote, IRRebel for president X 3.

Now can you do something about the tax situation ?   ;)

Something else to think about on this live vest situation,  Just how many of those pretty little females (with there bolt on boobies and perfect tans) do you think are going to want to spend a day on the lake with you on your boat when you tell them they have to wear a Coast Guard approved live vest.   I can hear it now, "I'm not going to wear that" it doesn't match my thong, it will give me ugly tan lines, etc, etc, etc.    :banghead:  Thats it, its time for the revolution !!!!!!!   I want to smoke anywhere I want to, ride a motorcycle with no helmet, use my used motor oil to kill weeds, start a fire in my fireplace whenever I want to, never have to make any car pass a smog test, and Not have to wear a live vest on my boat if I dont want to !!!!

Its just ridicules.  Imagine this, when I transferred the title of my Brendella into my name. I was sent a sticker that I'm supposed to put on the transom warning of carbon monoxide poisoning (or some such shit).  Do they really think the exhaust fumes from the zoomies are going to collect behind the boat?   Do they really think anyone will want to be behind that thing when its running ?  Do they really think I'm going to put that stupid sticker on my boat ??   I bet next year they send me the one with that little stick guy on it showing that you should not stick your foot into a propeller.    :screwy:

 Rant over...

Anyone remember the green Mr Yuk stickers parents were supposed to put on all the crap we, as kids, weren't supposed to drink under the kitchen sink? Started by Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, but soon went national. "Mr yuk is Mean.....Mr yuk is Green............" was the mantra of the campaign. That was followed by childproof caps and other things the chemical industry spent millions on so they did NOT have to pay royalties to Children's hospital for the friggin stickers. who paid for that? We did! Wonder where inflation comes from? it's 60% government driven and 40% lawyer driven. If you realize that equates into 100% lawyer driven, you get a gold star for the day!

Brad............I think we need to reaffirm and reassign this sticker...........

(https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi673.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fvv95%2FIrrebel%2FMrYuk.png&hash=81d4130901e536f22606d40509338345082a84b5)

I think we can come up with a better jingle to match it too!  ;)

You just won my vote, IRRebel for president X 3.

Now can you do something about the tax situation ?   ;)

Here's my idea on that Jeff........it will NEVER fly for obvious reasons unless myself or someone who thinks like me is elected to the white house.

But here's what I propose. The tax rate will obviously rise as the median income falls in this economy. We can't have the politicians giving up any of their lifestyle now can we......... O0

But here's the solution. Countless jobs, businesses, and whole vocations have been moved to Mexico, China, Tiawan, Idonesia, India and Pakistan because why? It makes for a better bottom line for the elite few. The elite few, who, paid for the elections of the very officials that made it happen. Our vote doesn't mean crap folks.........it's their compensation system that needs revamping.......who else can vote themselves a raise???? 1% of the people in this country have over 80% of the wealth............Greed is NOT capitalism..........

Soooooo   My solution......an amendment to the Constitution (Hell they did it for prohibition). We are, first and foremost, supposed to be a "government of the people, by the people and for the people". Read that somewhere when I was a kid.......should sound familiar.......

This amendment simply states that "all representatives in all levels of government shall earn no more, and no less, than the average median income of their constituancy ".

Whats that gonna do? Well, lemme tell you! Jo Blow from 3rd district Arkansas is gonna fight like hell to block efforts to allow a bill to pass allowing China to bring in shit free that will effectively close 3 plants in his district. Affects his pay plan when 3000 people lose their jobs! His US senator is going to do the same, as are his counterparts in both the state and US house of Representatives. Their counterparts in Ohio are going to back them up from the steel and rubber manufacturing industries, the rest of the country for their own interests will band behind them as well. You got my back I got yours. THIS is what America was founded on!

The ones elected to the "fake money mills" say NY (Wall Street, as an example) will be simply outvoted, and had better be on their A game, because the competition in those high income areas during election time will be fierce!!! Career politicians will be lining up for a crack at THOSE positions (Kinda like (WAYYYY BACK) when I was at the end of a long list of people wanting the chance to manage one of the Radio Shack stores in Hawaii........)

The surplus of money from what we used to pay these focks will go towards the deficit, and inside of 20 years, deficit gone, industry BACK in this country, people working, and taxpayers pay the same amount they are paying right now............problem solved.

This is going to limit the number of people actually running because, guess what? Not a gravy 7 figure job no more, and is also going to attract a lot of creative thinkers who actually care and not career politicians...........  The big guns, like LA and NY will still be grossly overpaid, but what it WILL do is limit their power. No more plant closings due to China, NAFTA or any of that BS........

Think about it gang. It's a solid Idea!  ;)

If you have ever been in high performance boat and go over for what reason. You would be thankful you had a jacket on, this year a friend of mine put his 21 ft Chris Craft in the water and he flipped the boat he almost expired himself along with a friend. He nows wear a jacket, in a pleasure boat. He was very lucky a person saw them to help, now these people were 70 years old and have been boating all their lives. Wear a jacket when you go over there is no time to think, I have been there done that.
