On Sunday pick up myself a nice little tow rig. Anyone else have a ram?

I love my old 12 Valve, 280,000 miles planning on at least 280,000 more. Fixing to send her in for new paint soon.

I had a '14 3500 with the Cummins. This is the first day I owned it. After 6 months of issues they offered to buy it back. It was a great truck aside from the problems. In the end they did me right but I'm in a GMC Denali now.

Bummer, sorry to hear that. I've heard nothing but good things about the cummins engines .

Sweet truck! Have the 2011 ram 5.7 love it tows great! Want to throw air bags In the rear coil to stiffen the rear during tow. Have to invert the tow hitch so heavier loads don't sit to low.

Hey 99Problems, where are you from? That picture of your rig on the tow truck made me realize that tow truck is from my town of Ridgecrest, CA. You close?

I just test drove one, what kind of mileage do you average? I'm seriously considering one for my next truck

With my 5.7 I'm getting 24 average highway. And combine average at around 19. Way better then I got with my old Tahoe.

Failing Jasper? I have a full size Bronco getting a Jasper long block as we speak. Should I be worried?

We've installed several Jasper engines and transmissions over the years with very few issues. This one had a Jasper transmission that was installed somewhere else and lost reverse. We did the diag that they requested and they sent us a replacement trans.
Ask if they have an extended service warranty from Jasper. We recently learned about them and are planning on including them in the cost of the job. If you have a problem it'll cover a higher labor rate than their normal warranty will cover. They normally only cover up to about $75 per hour, while most labor rates are $20-$50 over that.

Thats good advice. I will definately look into that.

I just picked one up yesterday... Was a 250 mile trip one way to get it cause we got a great deal on it! But on the way home cruise set at 78mph we got 24.7mpg... That is crazy for a full size 4 wheel drive truck that's bone stock! I'm sure it will continue to get better as the motor gets a few miles on it... I'm super happy so far!

I've got a '15 crew cab long bed 4x4 duramax and at 75-80mph on a trip not towing I got like 20.7mpg towing my trailer loaded down to 24-26000lbs I can get 10. Towing boat I can get 17-18mpg
-
My real world MPG is 24.2, that's a lot of city driving in downtown San Diego and 80-85 on the freeway, if I drove for conservation it would be closer to 30.
Every long drive to the river or big bear I'll average 28 at 80mph on the freeway. Towing a 22ft DCB Mach 22 from Martinez to SD I averaged 21.2mpg at 70mph and it held 70 all the way up the grade.
Great truck! I absolutely love it.

I just bought a 2016 Eco D, I'm getting 28-29 out of mine. Average about 25.5 towing my 18' Sanger. Only thing I've noticed is that fuel from different stations can make a big difference. Got 701 miles out of a tank of Chevron diesel and only 590 out of a tank of Arco diesel.
