Thanks for the welcome. Got a great deal on this 79 Tahiti daycruiser with 454ci bored out to 0.60 over and panther jet with a place diverter. Took the Engine apart and it was shot so i went to R & D marine & they did the engine work bunch of great guys. Boat still needs work. I usually boat at Havasu, Topock Gorge. I do my start up runs at Lake elsinor. I will try to upload pics soon.

A panther with a place diverter? If im not misteakin it was called a panthovator and it was made by panther unless you have had a conversion done to the berk set up. Either way, sounds like a good boat. Gotta get some pics up

Ka0tyk would know..

I don't know much about the panther jet, but are you sure that's not an early style dominator pump with a Diverter?

Look inside the transom for a tag that says Hugo, OK..

fur sure panther, but the exit housing, steering control, place diverter completely different from mine  :screwy: anyone know if this upgrade/conversion is available and where?     ( would like to put a little Viagra in my limp roost...lol)

sorry... welcome Antdogg714.        got all excited when I saw another black sheep of the jet drive family  :D

my guess is its an early energizer kit.  afaik theres been many attempts to machine the rear housing to accept a berk nozzle with 0 success aside from the whole conversion...

thanks, looked into panthers diverter offer and found a video of it.  no thanks for the money/results.

from what everyone has said that has done the energizer conversion its MORE than worth it.  lowers the rpms and raises the mph.  only problem is that it requires sending the whole pump out to be redone, and it costs like half of what my boat is even worth.  60mph is fine with me.

yup...better off converting to a berk.

Whats up with the 4 hoses @ the t - stat housing and the "tees' @ the water pump entry, is it actually running a thermostat? I have not seen that setup :o

prolly shuda moved this to the tech section but what's a ballpark fig $$ on energizer compared to berk conversion (glasswork/pump purchase/install)?  I won't holdya to guesstimates ...      just wunderin

the energizer kit is like a $2500 upgrade, and in teh end you still have a panther intake, which i hear has some issues with the "spoon" thats supposed to load the top of the impeller in a stock panther.

unless you have a ton of coin, or the boat means a lot to you, just take your motor and buy a boat with a berk in it.

man ur right about 1/2 the price of the boat.  i think I'm running close to ur top end (60), which is way to fast for the wife but to me feels like I'm "Drivin Miss Daisy".   turnin my back on my first squirter ...unthinkable right now, but I do spend a lot of time surfin eBay....hmmmm.    thx 4 the input
