With GPS you jetboaters can tell how fast yer boat is know since I don't think any of them came with a speedo. Not that boat speedo's are worth a shit. We ran my buddies Baker Tunnel with Big block tunnel rams dual quads at 83mph. The Weed Wacka's fastest is 87mph.

Lower 70's . Dont got no GPS. Only got about 425 hp. Great question though. I'll have to get on it .

I've read a couple of articles that state that it's nearly impossible to get a jet much faster than 65 mph (irregardless of HP) without major pump/hull work like a ride plate, shoe, stuffer grate and so on due to cavitation problems.

The article were probably written by pump builders looking for new clients. My old Bahner ran 82.7 with a bone stock Berekely, a Suburban short block, a set of 990's and a tunnel ram with 2 660's. No ride plate, no shoe, stock impeller in a heavy boat. All it takes is a good combo.

I'm sure hull design plays a part as well. A friend of mine has an Eliminator that had a decently built and fresh 460. It topped out at about 65.6 mph with more throttle left just wouldn't go any faster. Now it's got a (I keep forgetting) 510 Ford built to the roof , shoe, ride plate, stuffer, loader, droop, etc. but he wouldn't gps it last time we were out in it. ? . He just bought a second jet boat, a California Performance Gull Wing that supposedly did ? 118 ? mph a several years ago. It just needs a refreshining and I'm sure he will gps that one, without me in it.

Scarest boat I have ever been in was a flat bottom V-drive with a ford 390 and just a single four barrel and man that thing was fast! I have never looked at 'em the same since. When ever I see V-drives with Big Blocks and blowers that have to be way faster then that....Dude got some Cojonies if thats how you spell it??!!!

The one I rode in was about the same size and maybe went 85mph and I think I chewed a hole in the seat! :o 135mph....Must have had some hairy moments in that boat!

My Challenger runs 78mph on a 150 shot. The boat is heavy with a 454 nothing special motor. My Cole t-deck (jet) runs alot faster than the Challenger with about the same HP. The haul has alot to do with it.

I got my ass spanked by a daycruiser runnin a stroked Chevy BB with a v drive and I found out later a 3 speed transmission! I am running a 1976 Eliminator daycruiser with a drake pump(I know, I know) and a Chevy bb . I run around 65-70 and he ate me up!

Hey I am with Ya. i love to hit the water. I just dont have many people to jet with around here. Jets arent as big here in Texas as they are out west. People still drop their jaws and stare as I fly by. I LOVE IT! Just wish I had people around to trade and talk with.

Damn! Yall talk ALOT of shit! I know that I am new here but one of two things is going on here. Either you have all got Damn Fast boats or you are all talking mad shit. Where I boat it seems that there is a new fastest boat every week on the water. Way too much money floating around in Austin. These guys get beat and they go home and build a new motor or boat and come back two weeks later. By that time Someone else is even faster. I am shooting for the fastest best sounding boat on the lake that will carry 6 and cost under 15K to build. That I doubt anyone will beat me at.

See real boats with real hp take consentration to pilot. Of course you wouldn't know anything about that since the only thing you care about when you hit the water is what cove are the fish bitting in. Well I made the treck up there. Stayed at NUTHIN'S house. He and I are actually great friends who like to talk shit to each other. Went to CFW on New Years morning. It was cold with a light breeze when we got there. Tons of people and tons of boats. There were a few on the water. Mostly jets. A few flats. I never got to launch mine. The wind picked up and I just walked around talking to buddies and grabbin food at each stop. NUTHIN didn't get to drop his boat in either. Alot were trailer bound, jets and V-drives.
All in all it was a great time. Looking real forward to Fathers day at CFW. The weather is warm (88-95) and the boats are in abundance. Plenty of cool people and constant racing. We launch from our camp and absolutely nothing compares to waking up to two blown hydros going at it at 7:00 in the morning.
Any and all should come up for the fathers day bash. It is an event that once visited, you won't ever want to miss again."
Atleased ya' gotta' "pick up food at each stop"!!! That sounds like a fun weekend to me. Maybe I am on the wrong team since I have never gone to a lake to "Eat at each stop". Don't try to compare your Geo Metro to my Corvette. Your boat is an all purpose drive anywhere boat. Does not thrill me nor 99.9% of the boating world. When you launch tell me how many people look your way from the sound of your engine. Tell me how many people rush to the shoreside to see YOU make a pass. I'm guessing not many. But that's ok, you are happy with a boat that maxes out well below my cruising speed. ;)

You mean 3 outboards. Each one is good for 33.3 mph. Oh wait, ha said a million MPH?? Sorry, I thought he meant 100 mph. :o :D ;D

When I was a kid we had a family friend who had a Kachina hull (two seater) He first put the boat together with a 427 and topped it off with dual propane carbs. We would get some odd looks when fueling it up. The boat was all motor and tanks. In this configuration the boat ran in the high 80's. A few seasons later he went to Twin Holley's and a blower. he also did the lower end but I have no idea what he bored it to, and he would never tell. Running on av-gas he was topped out at 102 MPH. We confirmed the speed using radar. The boat had some work done on the jet but nothing too radical. I know y'all will think I'm full of shit, but I was skiing behind it at the time. The things we do at 18.
