From what I read Chiang lost in court today.  Not sure if he will appeal.  But yeah, Arnold sucks major nuts.  This is coming from a state employee.

Mark-

The unions and Chiang lost today, 3rd district of the California State Supreme Court ruled that yes, in times of financial crises, the Governor can instruct the controller to pay minimum federal wage. This is a step up from when Davis was in office and they issued IOU's to state employees. As a former state worker, this was always a concern of ours come budget time. I still talk to my old colleagues, guess what, they got the notice today that they indeed are making $7.25 per hour until the budget passes. Originally Arnie wanted to exclude the members of the unions that had signed new contracts, he can't do that, it's everyone gets $7.25 or no one does.

Chiang has said he will defy the instruction, I'm not sure if he truly understands the legality of the word "treason". There are steps in place to remove ANY state officer, elected or appointed, and you can bet your sweet hairy ass that Arnie knows those steps by heart.

I would only be ok with it if it meant that all of the politicans get the same wage, not just the Blue collars. The Blue's always pay for the white collars to live.

Lookin like we might get a "stay of execution" from min. wage thanks to the dinosaur computers the state uses. Our computers still have green screen monitors lol. I usually brag about how green screen was "state of the art".....in the 70's lol. Now I'm kinda happy they haven't upgraded them yet lol.

I've always said that our system of big government sucks.

All politicians should be paid the average wage of his/her constituency. Period. No expense accounts, comps, etc, etc. That is the only way to force them to truly act as our voice. If they want a raise, then they better work hard to get more employment and better wages for their constituency. The politicians that represent more affluent areas of the nation will probably be trying to do a bang up job as well, as the ones in the losser fortunate areas will be gunning for their job!

Simple huh? Never happen though.

This is interesting reading. Cali lawmakers get an annual salary over 113k and allowances for expenses of $162 every day they are in session.  :screwy:

Government/Legislator/Arnold all suck something fierce.  Who is here to help the people?  Who is looking out for the state?  Instead we get some horrendous debt that would make most other states blush, never pass a budget on time even though they know when it is due, fight amongst each other(repubs, dems) and sh!t on the education system along with the state workers who bring them in their state income.

I hate this subject.  I cant even get all of my thoughts out through my fingers.  I am sick of getting d!cked around.  There will be so much damage if even one paycheck comes in under min. wage.  We shall see.

I like Chiang.  He actually seems reasonable/sensible/responsible.

And dont get me started about the Unions.  I am sick of paying out 70-75 a month for stupid @ss SEIU when they aren't doing me any good for the past two years.  Am I bitter?  Yeah, a little bit.

They unions don't have the power they used to. My so was getting ripped off by the local food worker union. The dues ar SOO expensive and he doesn't even have a shop steward in the same building ! Unions suck now. Back in the day they where the bomb. Now they take your dollars and give you pennies in return.

Unions should be abolished completely.  In the old days, they had a good purpose.  Now they just add enormous cost to jobs and cause delays in getting work done.

just my opinion.

Thanks for letting me share
