Title: Nozzle Insert?

So I found this I guess it's a nozzle Insert of some sort in a Berkeley pump in a boat I bought. It's made of aluminum and has a machined lip on the backside to fit right inside the groove inside the pump. Can anyone explain to me what it is supposed to do and if it actually does what it's supposed to do?

That nozzle insert was made by speed trim, that one looks to have a 5 degree up or down built into it, plus  cut the nozzle size down.

Thanks Jim! Does it actually work or do much? It was in an E pump.

I put it on my 18 advantage lifted the font didn't need a diverter

Ok thanks! Guess I will give it a try. Just did not want to drill the holes to mount it in my other boat if there was no reason to do so.
