old rigger's plate
« on: May 22, 2007, 09:04:48 PM »
here's a pic of the plate off of the Schuster. The hand scribed stuff is extremley difficult to read.

6          persons...                (blank)                   moulding
or         A properly...          GS or OS or CS           assembly
1200     lbs. ...                       RJ                        rigging
500      Max rec...

There was also an interesting deal with the bow. The bow was reinforced with a sheet of plywood and then glass into the hull. Before whomever glassed in the plywood they painted something on the plywood. Here's a pic of that as well.

son of a bitch...that is one of dad's old boats, the initinals under rigging are RWT with the leg of the R being the begining of the W and the last leg of the W being the T.
Crap....well I should have bought the boat when I had the chace but the guy selling it on craigslist was too stupid to find the ID plate and give me the info. lol

Hotrod, now the plate even means more to me than it did when I first asked you, thank you again.  ;)

Your welcome old rigger. If it's any consilation (spelling ?) it bit me before it "left us", twice. First when I lifted the interior out of it I fell through the floor, second when I was moving the trailer and the little plastic wheel at the front of the trailer ran over my foot. My foot is killing me.

Without getting too graphic, for the faint of heart, the trailer got ripped off of my truck, you should have seen my face when that trailer was dancing all over the place very close to the back of my truck!   :o

Hey, YOU asked. So when you get to the dump you've got a truck and a trailer with a boat hull on it. There's nothing there to tie the hull to. So they drive up a 50 billion ton bulldozer about two feet from the hull and you gotta walk over there and tie a chain around the hull and dozer. They give you the option (usually) to either have the dozer drive away from the trailer with the hull attached to the dozer or you can drive the truck and trailer away from the hull and dozer. So when this 400 thousand fout pounds of torque monster lights up it's eyes (barely) to take the hull off of the trailer the hull gets caught on something (?) and freakin' rips the trailer off of the ball, the chain didn't break immediately so the tongue of the trailer was flailling around like a raped ape right behind my truck, then the chain broke, then the trailer's wiring got ripped off, then the trailer gets pulled about 20 feet into the trash (which is what stopped it), then the hull comes off of the trailer. I don't get it, there was nothing tied to the hull other than the chain that was attached to the dozer. But you in your truck can see a lot better than the dozer driver and also you'll know in your truck if there's a problem a lot sooner than the dozer driver as well.

Drive your truck and trailer away from the dozer!!!!!!!!! (This is not an endorsement to dump useable boat hulls. We here at SoCalJetBoats.com would rather see you restore than diamond in the rough.)

How was that Brad?   ;D   ;D   ;D
