The boats that are projects u can get a decent motor for n be about or below same money. Paul kane on here as lakesonly is building a 450 ford he wants around 3500 and ur motor is new 750 hour boats that kind of dough id want a new motor imho

Hey All, so I have found some boats that I like (how many times has this been said, lol)  Could you guys take a look see and straight up opinions on craftsmanship and value...also particular things to stay away from:

IMO they're all completely different boats. 

#1 doesnt exist anymore

#2 a run of the mill 20 day cruiser style boat, no frills, but an open bow giving you some good seating space and storage.  has doghouse and jumpseats.  no pix of engine.

#3 closed bow 21 footer.  same motor, probably has a couple bucks in it with upgrades, lots more billet and upgraded gauges, interior, etc, nicer trailer.  billet swim steps over #2's fiberglass steps, etc.  a little less family friendly, a little more river cruiser.

#4 is a big boat.  21 foot deeper vee with a monster of a trailer set up to carry 2 jetskis.  not something *I* personally would want to own.  not gonna be as fast as #3, but will probably be a more comfortable ride in parker/havasu. 

it all depends on what you are looking for and where you boat. do you have kids or a wife?  if you need to carry additional people the openbow is a nice feature.  i dont think they're all priced terribly high, but if all checks out, try waving a thousand or two less in their direction to see if they bite and go from there.  make sure you check everything.  stringers and floor on all of em.

Stringers seem to be a HUGE issue...so my buddy tells me you are supposed to "drill" and check for rot? 

Also, can someone fill me in on boating the upper river, lower river, Havasu, and possibly Mead...different set ups, concerns, people....already read up on that green rattle snake...thought the kids and I were going to be able to throw a tent up at riverside and camp....maybe not!

no just stringers get rotten with water damage.  floors, seat bases, seat frames, bulheakds, etc.  you can tell if they're rotten by bringing something to tap on them with.  screwdriver, hammer, wrench, etc.  a solid good piece will have a different solid sound to it, whereas a rotten piece will have a dead sounding thud.  once you hear that you can usually poke around with your finger and feel that its soft.  once you find damage you either walk, or start counting on your finders how many hundreds of dollars it will take to fix it.
