Title: opinions needed (back it with facts if you can)
Post by: Luckie Stiff on June 22, 2008, 10:52:07 AM
I currently have Bassett over transom headers with baffles, i have a chance to swap for bassett through transom headers (freshly Embee coated) I'll need to reroute a bunch of stuff to make the TT's work, and drill holes in my boat, is the payoff (less noise) worth the work?

It was for me! If you drink and boat it keeps the attention off of you.

had the tt bassetts on my hawaiian and it was only noticable at idle. because the headers came out of the water once the boat was on plane, and had no muffs in them

so the noise difference wasn't really noticable on plane?

not for me, i always worried about getting a ticket when on plane because it was loud. then again all good running BBF'S are loud >:D

if you want less noise get the logs, i heard the chaz's boat at the river and man that thing sounds like a sewing machine compaired to my boat

My buddy used to get saved with his TT headers. One time a few friends and I were out on a sandbar, one had through transom headers, the other had OT headers with the quietest mufflers I've heard, along with a very low HP motor, made it a very quite boat. We cruised passed a cop and parked, and sure enough the cop hasseled my bud with the OT headers, even though my friend with the TT headers was WAY louder. I think they just see the exhaust going through the boat instead of over and they think it's safer/CG approved

I once sat on the ramp in a"stare down" with the ranger with my Blown Bahner (OT twistys) and got the "stink eye" very time the Cop got close
My Eliminator cruiser is ever bit a loud the 4" Thru transoms never so much as a look !

I was out at BV yesterday (making sure the boat would actually float) and we were making a WOT run on the back side, came off of plane and looked to my left, here comes the ranger!  (I have logs) I thought:  This is striaght up bull sh*t, but he went right by me and hasseled some wake board boat.
