Last I searched here Optima red/yellow/blue received a bad rap, is that still the case? I've been running my Wally World special for 2 years and had no problems but now that its time to replace would like a gel sealed type. Thoughts on Optimas and if so what color? I would guess yellow.

Personally, Every optima battery I've owned has been shit! They all have lost charge with in a year or so. I have been running an odyssey battery for about 3 years in the swtd, it's always charged and has never really given me a problem.that will go in the dimarco. They are a bit Cheeper that the optima too. Iam switching to a braille 11.5 lb battery here before the Parker race.

i have dual vatozone marine bluetops in my boat(s) with no issues. which is weird because autozone usually sells complete crap.
that being said i also have a pair of yellow top optimas in my navigator with no issues. but it doesnt see as severe conditions as a boat. regardless pretty much 75% of the worlds batteries are all made by johnson controls (i used to work for them back in the day) so its all the same crap...

This... There is a handful of other battery makers out there that just can't compete. The insides are all the same, it's just how they label it.
I get a good deal on interstate through my work, or I'd be running the costco batteries. No questions asked warranty exchange program, so long as you have the receipt.

Im going to talk to my Interstate rep also. Thermo King makes a battery called an EON. Its glass mat technology no gell or liquids, super heavy. Its a thought and they are made for very harsh environments, but $$$

I worked for JCI also...
You couldn't give me a trainload of Optima batteries, I used to get them at a deep discount and out of the three I bought, not one of them made two years, same vehicle (1976 Chevy Blazer with dual batteries) I installed two Die Hard batteries and the thing never blinked til the day I sold it off. I think the batteries were four years old when I sold it.
Over sold hype if you ask me.

Costco.

Walmart... I have two 29 marine. I dont use optima anymore after replacing a few in my 56 in less than a year of use. I switched to walmart batt in the 56 after the years of good service/beatings from my boat stereo.

I recommend Costco also....+ there warranty also

For all of you living in the Los Angeles, Orange county and Inland Empire I got the hook up for you on batteries. Batteries is what I sale for a living. I offer Deka batteries made by East Penn Manufacturing. Made in Pennsylvania , the good old USA. Look them up check their product line out. Johnson controls has moved their plants to Mexico , lack of quality and craftsmanship.
