Who is going? Who has been? I have wanted to go for a few years but never made it.
Are slow day cruisers welcome to hang out? Kid / family appropriate?
I just want to hang out and watch some fast runs, but dont want to be an outcast.
Looking for feedback to decide if we should try it, or just go to our regular spot in blythe.

I will be there with my 21' open bow. Just going to hang out with some peeps and watch some runs as well!!! Never been but heard it's a good time. We will be staying in Blythe and making the day trip up

I have gone the last few years. I have had fast boats and slow boats. This year I have a slow boat. Its a good time for sure. It gets super crowded and its pretty family orientated. There are a mix off all sorts of boats from pontoons to out boards jet to vdrive. Everyone is welcome. Come early to get a good spot on the sand bar.

Well I guess I'm getting old. I've been a few times and I don't plan on attending. It has become just hanging out on a sand bar with 2000 of your new best friends trying to keep your boat from either getting swamped or beat to shit while hopping your anchor holds. You'll see a couple fast boats make a pass or 2, but most of the racing is done either on Friday, or after everybody heads back to the launch ramp and nobodies there to watch. You won't have any trouble if you take kids, all the people are very cool. You will see some really nice hardware there if you walk around. It's become more of a big get together to drink beer and shoot the breeze than fast boats making passes. The water turns to shit real fast and just won't allow for safe high speed passes, at least for the sober people. If this sounds like a good time, you'll have a blast. Enjoy!

I agree with you guys. Its a shit show for sure, but its fun to see all the million dollar hot rods there. Last year there were so many people that we were out in the river about 5 boats deep. This year it won't bother me because my boat is alot heavier and WAY more free board.

What these guys said. I kinda got stuck on the sandbar behind 4 or 5 rows of boats the length of the sandbar. This was on the west side of the sandbar. The east side was also crowded but not nearly as bad. There were some passes made.
Other than that, it was pretty cool. The kids and I did a lot of walking around checking out some insanely awesome boats and met some people. It was cool to be there and check it out.
But, personally, I had a better more relaxing time on an empty beach down out of McIntyre.

This was about 2pm and boats were still showing up. Not trying to talk you out of it, just trying to give you an idea of what to possibly expect. I'd say go and check it out just don't get blocked in.

I have to agree on the chaos that will happen next weekend. It's a hot rod show on the water and can get a bit choppy with guys making passes. We usually hang out for a few hours and walk around checking out the hardware. Then split to a beach where we can relax and have a couple beers. It's worth the trip, the good outweighs the bad.
