My motor mounts got this film on them and dont know what it is but i want to make them shiney again. Is there something that you use to get them really clean?  Come on give up the secret.

I'm having all my shit polished and coated, It's a real pain in the ass to polish all that stuff EVERY time you take it out. I've got some stuff called Zoop Seal, it was a sample from SEMA last year, it's marked $120 on the box. The Zoops is a four  stage sealing proccess, I'll prolly have to take everything apart just to get to it all.  This tuff says it's good for  2-3 years and is enough to coat your engine and four wheels. Eastwood has a product out for aluminum you spray on, havent got any info on it yet, may try it on the new (old) flatty project. I can polish my cav plates out w/ Mothers, McGuires has a polish w/ a little higher luster, and ONE time in the water it looks like shit again. Aluminum starts to oxidize imediatly, coat it or forever polish.

Uh ...hire a day worker??  but seriously all the  above stuff works but the easiest is to convert your bench grinder to a buffer wheel and use polishing "medium" sticks just my 02 ...Tom

Now you're talking! that Mothers is gerat stuff but gimme a freakin' break, it's teadious as hell.

Polishing sticks: medium, at what kind of store do I get them at? What's the best type of wheel to use for re-shining something up, like previously polished engine mounts? What's the best type of wheel to get if you're starting from aluminum that's never been polished? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Josh got the polishing media sticks at the local "truvalue honeydoo store" ,same with the pads that replace your grinding wheels Tom

Maguires has a new product out that comes in an aerosol can, it drys clear with no residue and is supposed to last a "long time" its self leveling etc, I am not sure how good it is. I do have a can but have yet to use it.

I got it thinking I was gonna coat a few parts  that were polished and keep a couple parts that are polished without any coating together and see how they do out in the elements together.

Well since i sold all my 455 stuff, im gonna need to buy another set of motor plates. I figured why buy new ones when i need to have them coated anyways.  Between the cost of coating and the plates USED should come out to the same as buying new plates (maybe)
