Let me explain. We have a neighbor who's husband died a few years ago. The boys and I help her out however we can so she doesnt get ripped off on things. She has a 2004 Polaris Genesis I 135 that has a cracked lid on the fuel tank where a couple of the hoses come into it. It looks like the outer ring is actually a seperate piece so I think I should be able to just find her the center section. On all the online parts houses I have found the fuel tank looks nothing like the one she has. A local independent repair shop says that they don't sell just that piece, that you must buy the whole tank and that it costs $400. I call BS! He just so happens to have a used one for $250. Does anyone have a Polaris connection to set me straight on this or confirm/deny what this local guy said. I have attached a pic of the top of her fuel tank.
Hopefully I can resolve this for her. She wants to take her kids out in 2 weeks. Thanks for the help guys.

I will contact my PWC whore friend....he probably has one, or at least knows where to get one...
Let you know tomorrow...BTW, He needs a rudder for a Berkeley JE... ;)

Great. Thanks GT. Unfortunately we do not have a rudder. Being as this is our first project we are still in the process of collecting way too much stuff that we don't need like all you more experienced guys. (cough, cough you and Ray) ;D

I spoke to the lady who owns these and she mentioned and showed me the Coast Guard tag which stated that these are 4 seaters. Is is possible that these are aftermarked tanks? I have not been able to find anything on line offering aftermarket tanks. And since Polaris no longer makes PWC's, finding people who work on these or are knowledgeable is getting more difficult.

Winner - Winner Chicken Dinner! Thats the one. I did not know that the cap is actually part of the fuel pump. I checked out the Polaris parts diagram and saw that a new one is indeed $460. :o So what the repair guy said was right on. I guess he did not explain that it was not actually the "tank" itself.
I knew and told her that this place would get me the answer! :thumbup: :beer:

There is what looks to be a PWC salvage yard right on the I-10 in Fontana. I don't know the name but you could probably find a number, or just drive there. It is near Sierra but still East I think.
Or it might just be the "Ray" of PWC's O0 and he wants to keep all 129 of them in his yard.

being as it is Fontana it could be either. The lady is going to have the shop she went to do the work with the unit they have. She feels a lot better knowing that she is not getting fleeced just because she doesn't know anything about the repair work needed. Between us we have probably saved her about $200. :thumbup:
