Post by: aquaholic72 on January 30, 2015, 01:03:39 AM
Just a reminder to all of us looking for that good deal.. bang for our buck. If it seams to good to be true,  it probably is, i just got burned again on a set of heads, great deal, guy is an ex drag boat racer, told me the whole story behind the heads before i told him what i was putting them on, just so happens i wanted them for my flatty.  Talked several times, went to his house in san dimas to pick them up.. he ademently told me several times they were good to go, need nothing except we both agreed the valve springs would not work for my cam.. not a problem..  come to find out one head is all cracked up!! Fml... anyone know him. He raced a boat called flabbergasted??.. no warrentys on used parts.. maybe he didnt know or Maybe he knew he fucked me..all i can do is hope to salvage it... be carefull buyin used boys.. a pig in lipstick and heels is still a pig!!

This is why it is important to have s good relationship with a quality machine shop.

You would be utterly shocked ay how many times I have caught people in a lie.
Not to terribly long ago I had a dude looking to sell a steel 454 crank that was standard.

One thump on the driveway proved the crank to be cracked. He told me he had it at the machine shop and that it was checked out and magnafluxed. I told him to his face he was FOS. Funny thing is, he didn't put up an argument. That crank was on CL for another month.

What casting numbers you looking for?

When it seems to good to be true run and run fast. There was a good set of Edelbrock heads on the site for sale. Not sure what you are looking for throw out a post of you setup and what your looking for who knows. Hope you can salvage what you have bought know that you have learned the golden rule.  The pot of gold is most likely a pot of shit.
