holy crap! that is insane how much they "Swarm" onto objects in the water
-
the deal is i havent really seen them on sand...i only see em on rock surfaces on lake mead...or trash on the bottom of the lake...like brads picture the part of the beach where my boat was parked at there was a cup sitting at the bottum of the lake covered in muscles...this is an issue that i dont think will be resolved and the best way about it is to make sure and not contaminate other lakes...believe it or not lake mead is the first place for these things to show up on i wanna say north america...

do we know how they attach themselves to things?
-
no different then the ones you see on the pier at the ocean....

I wonder if they have a predetor...like a fish or something that feeds on them.
or maybe a virus that can be introduced to kill them off, but not impact anything else.
im no biologist, im just thinkin out loud

Thats the same reason I was asking. I was thinking outloud about whys to get rid of em.
Swine Flu, hell call the CDC and WHO and every other fricken group. But a damn disease that is destroying the lakes and water ways of such a beautiful country and seems like most dont give a flyin flock!

whats funny is back in 2001 lake mead had an algae bloom...the lake fucken stank it was green and just nasty...then they introduced something to eat it up maybe it was the mussles...everything has a predator...but you said it yourself this has become a problem...and once you introduce something else to eat the mussles...that too will become a problem its a vicious circle really! what is funny is where swallow and boulder basin and make mead marina are is where the algae bloom was located...and even funnier is that is where the intake tower for vegas water is located...makes you wonder!
