ive destroyed 2 vatozone pulley/balancer tools trying to get this thing off. first one was with a breaker bar, second one was with an impact gun. this freakin thing is STUCK. any suggestions? i have yet to try heat as then ill need to buy a new one and ive heard whacking it with a hammer is a bad idea.

Soak it down with some penetrating oil..You can use thread cutting oil, acetone mixed with some transmission fluid, liquid wrench, whatever..
If you have a crank bolt and a hardened washer, run it down tight before trying to remove it (it is easier to pull it on further than to pull it off).
Then when you are ready to remove it after a few hours, grease up the pointed end of the puller, remove the bolt and washer and apply slow constant pressure with a quality harmonic balancer puller, preferably not a Chinese POS made out of rings from a Cracker Jack box... :o
If it does not begin to move with over 80-90 ft pounds of torque on it, try using a dead blow hard faced hammer on the end of the puller jacking screw, but put some safety glasses on... Don't hit it too hard and be sure to hit it straight so you don't jack up the head...
If you heat it up, you will virtually destroy the rubber isolator (which sounds like you already knew).
I have seen some pretty stuck, but so far never had to burn one off...did a small block years ago that pulled the threads right out of the balancer, so now I use a jamb not on the bolts... :sly:
Another little tidbit...Be sure the puller is perfectly straight. If even slightly offset, much of your pulling power will be reduced because of the angular load.

Best thing i can say is spray it with lube of choice every time you walk by it and in a day or so it should come off

leaving the boat alone? never!
im on puller #3 death now. this one pulled the threads right out of the little baseplate thing. this stupid balancer isnt budging at all. i think its time to break out the torch and take all this as an excuse to buy a nice SFI balancer.

forged rotating assembly would mean id have to take the balancer off... lol.

Nope, unbolt the timing cover and bend it so you can unbolt the cam gear pull the pan and rod and main caps and bam good to go. Been there done it

did you try tightening the puller then use a rubber mallet on the balancer it will give it a shock and sometimes pop it.

I've had to cut one off before....it's not fun. Load the puller up as tight as you can get it, then give the jack screw a few solid smacks with a big hammer, loosen, tighten, smack repeat. Maybe some pb blaster too
