Title: Rescue Hal's Boat
Post by: Brad @ SCJB on June 22, 2015, 09:31:09 AM
Saturday evening just south of the Parker dam, one of our members Hal Bloomer (holorinhal) lost steering in his boat and crashed into a private dock that is part of the Bluewater Lagoon Mobile Park. Due to this, the boat was sunk in shallow waters. Hal is OK and no one else was involved and there was no injuries.

An attempt was made to recover the boat, but the current was too strong and it was left to be recovered in the morning. Authorities were called after they left and salvage was called to recover it. At this time we have estimated costs around $4,500 for him to regain possession of the boat.

Art and Helen Saenz have created a GoFundMe account to help Hal out in raising funds to get his boat back. I urge you all to help out where you can. It is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance for helping.

Thank you for posting this Brad... This unfortunate circumstance could have easily happened to any one of us.... No matter how much you prepare and ready your boat for a weekend on the water, things like this can happen at any given time... We just thank goodness no one was hurt.

This cracks me up. 300+ people have read this thread but out of the 300+ people that someday might get themselves into a bind has donated money to help him out?? I have never met the guy nor have I ever seen his boat and I donated. Just remember Karma is Mother F****r.....................

no one HAS to donate....so threatening people with bad karma is a bit over the top in this situation.

I didn't threaten a single person did I??? I just know when boating a lot can go wrong and you would want help, so don't say it's a bit over the top.

"karma is a motherfucker" is what you said. To me you're telling everyone if they don't open their wallets, they will get bad karma. Am I wrong?

Its a donation thread, not a "demand people to step up and give us money" thread.

At this point we have raised over $1,400. To me that a huge success. I am sorry you are disappointed with the numbers. Not everyone has a ton of money sitting around - me included. I plan on donating on Friday when I get paid after my week of eating top ramen caused by a lengthy river trip.

Growing up fishing in the ocean every weekend on the family boat I know how things can go to hell in a quickness... And it ain't usually cheap... I feel for the owner and hope he gets his boat back. If I could donate I would... I just got a notice of a bill that's due on the 30th.. And those who sent me the bill knew about it Nov. of last year but yet just send me the notice... The bill is double what I have in my bank account

Supposedly a Calgo cable broke towards end of a big u-turn...nozzle went straight and sent him into the dock.   Not a lot he could have done to save it

Only thing you can do it stuff it in reverse and wait for the wall of water. Been there, done that......

So has he been able to get the boat back yet and how much damage was done ro the boat when recovered? Did they put it on a trailer or drag it onto a flat bed and dump it on a lot?

Hal got his boat back yesterday. Cost him and arm and a leg definitely.  Boat recovery from the pics I've seen went pretty good. They pulled it off the dock and it submerged the whole boat. They had to use the air bags to float it anf pump out the water but it was put on a boat trailer by the recovery so hopefully the damage to hull is minimal.

Does Hal know where the boat is ? His Insurance Co should be paying for the recovery / they payed almost $21,000 at Silverwood Lake CA. to recover my 18ft CP !! It has something to do with water contamination / If not contact The BWR=federal / I can offer my physical service's to help float that Beautiful Little Girl to the surface = it's not that hard with a few strong mate's +gas air comp+ tube's & some dive gear & a pontoon boat or a stout tow boat like my Checkmate=aka=MISS BEHAVN ! Contact me if you need my help  ;  Sincerely; Broke Dog

Hal got his boat back Monday evening. The recovery of the boat ended up costing him what most people buy complete running boats for! I Was in the water with him right after it happened apparently his calgo steering locked in a turn and he shut the motor down but not much he could do. He did not have insurance so everyone has done an awesome job with  helping a fellow jet boater and a hell of a nice guy out. He still has to fix it!

All i can say is WOW! I am so blown away by the overwhelming support, of the SCJB family!
Ther are no words that i can say, to express my grattitude to the amount of people willing to help, except,  Thank you from the deepest depths of my heart!
Please, no one, feel obligated to donate any money! This was started by dear friends of mine and was totaly unexpected and over the top! Just the mere thought from every one, of wishing they could do something to help, means the entire world to me!!
I thank every one for just your overwhelming thoughts and concerns! The people i have met over the years, thru this site and the boating comunity, are the best people any one could ever hope to meet!
I have got the boat back. other than a quick look, i realy have not taken a hard look at it, as i just have not felt up to looking at it!
I got back late monday night and imediately pulled the engine and started the pickleing process, in hopes of saving the engine. I have been working on that for the last couple of days. In the next few days i will take a hard look at the hull and evaluate the condition and see what parts and pieces are salvageable on the inside.
Again, Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for every ones overwhelming thoughts and prayers!

Wow!!!  This is so awesome!!!  We really do have a great jet boating family on this site!!!  Hal is a dear friend of Sean and I, and for those of you that don't know him, I will say he is always one of the first people to offer to help out his friends, and holds his word.  For those of you that do know him, you already know that about him... That, and the fact that he makes a killer jambalaya!! Lol
As a close friend of his, I myself would like to say thank you!!  😎😄

I have known Hal a few years and he is truly a genuine guy. He will be the first one to take his shirt off his back to help anyone, knowing them or not. I am glad that he got the boat back, but happier that he was ok. Hal is a hell of a guy!!

Hal if you need anything you have my number.
