scoop project scjb style
« on: November 27, 2014, 05:16:40 PM »
good day gents,

i couldnt figure out how to post an image in a pm, so ive posted it here. apologies.

jet boat maloney,
does this look about what you were thinking of?  its a quick and dirt drawing mostly based on the pic you posted with your dimensions.  it isnt noted in pic that you want opening by carb to be oval....or did you want the entire vertical piece from carb to inlets, 'three tubes' to be oval?

The first sketch is on the money. The bottom sketch needs have a little more arc to it and a little further forward. Round holes as if it had butterfly's just with out the butterfly's if that make any sense. Looking good bro!!!

Pretty much if you looked at a top fuel dragster just with a base you attach to dual 750's

Maloney,
I'm sure you see isn't to scale. Just has dimensions. The curve forward may be more pronounced when in scale. The round holes will be round. They look like they have a flat spot where the holes make contact with each other... and that will Still be there...otherwise there'll just be a same contact area and it would be weaker.  So for the oval, you want the vertical piece to be roundish....tapering to an oval??
looks like there'll be two versions....one for single the for duals. Thoughts?

You probably already know but just incase make sure on the three openings have a lip that sinks in 1/2-1" on each opening.
Thanks Maloney

That's way over my computer skills. But imagine it had butterfly's in the openings and they were recessed about a 1/2-1" in the bores. Hope that makes more sense.

i cant see a lip, at least not on this pic.

by lip, do you mean have the butterflies recessed half to 1 inch?

if so....this scoop isnt going to have butterflies....

ah...ok.  yeah opening will be smooth and will transition into the vertical part.  the edge of openings will be contoured or with a radius on the edge.
thanks

Yeah I think a little taller and a little further fwd. see what I mean about the base? Square like a normal scoop would look too bulky that's why I was thinking an oval base. I think it would look pretty bad ass though and hopefully some others will like it too.
Thanks Tad
