Title: River trips?
Post by: floatn turd on May 28, 2008, 10:43:09 PM
I just finished my boat after a long ass time, I use to go to havasu but think its too choppy for my little turd, plus the noise laws. so need to know where everyone else goes now. (besides parker)  Any jet boat "gatherings" happening soon? and where? Any info would be great.
                                  Thanks. ::)

We do quite a few trip to Blythe (Mayflower) for the day & long weekends. Its a great place if you want to stay away from the crowds.
I have a Park Moabi trip planned for June 26-29. i have a place in Topock Marina and 3 other boats are camping on the peninsula at Moabi. I may start a thread to see if anyone is in the area and would like to hook up for a coldy and a few lies about our boats!

We do a lot of weekend and long holiday weekend trips to Blythe and launch out of McIntyre Park.  We normally stay at a hotel in town.

it all sounds good to me, thanks for the info. should i use mufflers at these places, have not been on the water since all this "noise" crap started :banghead:

I have been involved with dirt bikes all my life.  Bikers are losing a lot of open space and the PR battle with the public because the bikes are too loud.  The industry has been addressing the problem for a while now and for the most part bikes are much quieter now.  Me and the family have been to many MX, SX, and even Speedway races where you are sitting real close to many bikes all going WFO (wide fking open) at once and enjoyed them a lot.  Last year we went to Long Beach for the boat races and had to leave because all four of us thought the noise level was unbearable.

So my question is "why do so many boater insist on having no mufflers on their boats?"  I understand racers looking for every single horsepower, but what about the rest of you?  I would love to know why you recreational users put up with, and actually enjoy seriously loud boats.  An uncovered engine is loud enough for me.  So what's the deal???

I think its like anything else motorized. Its only fun when you are the one driving it! O0 Its irritating to shits to everyone else. Just like a Harley with pipes. I dont know if I speak for myself, but when I am driving my 18' with Headers and 6"' of freeboard, im throwing practicality out the window!!! Its a showboating thing, and we do it cause we love it. I guess thats why we can pull up to a 150k deck boat and all the gear heads pass it by walk up to our under 10k boats to see what we "got in her""!
