Just registered, wanted to say hello! Been reading your topics for about a month and thought I should sign up. Bought my first boat about a month ago, it's a 21' 1982 Bahner. Bought it pretty much turn key and lost the motor in two trips to Elsinore... Short trips!! Get my motor back Tues. and can't wait to get out with everyone. Thanks for all the info you guys post it really helps a rookie like me! Here's a few pics to introduce what my old lady calls the "Attention Whore"! Lol

That boat has been for sale for a long time. I am so glad to see it found a good home. Congrats!! Welcome!! She's a beauty!

Thanks guys! Yes this boat was sold at the end of last year to the guy I bought from, motorless. He dropped in a used 454 from a prior boat he owned and the pump froze up. He had pump all gone thru and added new distributor and fuel pump. All gauges were new when he got it too. The boat fired and sounded great when I bought it, the part we couldn't see was the razor sharp cam teeth that went shortly after I got it. At this point I decided to dial everything in before summer so I bought new h-bar, new starter, new fuel lines, cooling lines and now polishing tanks after seeing a video posted on here a short time ago about aluminum polishing. I forgot to mention I found this site because there's a SCJB sticker between the swim steps that got my attention so maybe someone knows previous owners or just recognizes boat....? That is a beautiful boat, probably what mine looked like when new. I'm tempted to try and wet sand the paint off of mine. Not sure why the previous owner painted over the panels.

Thanks Chris! Again, my first boat but I can agree with you on paint because I saw a few boats that way in my searching to find this one. Btw, I really like the way your motor turned out! I wouldn't have thought to do white block but it looks great.

Couple things I've done lately... Got motor back, painted exhaust tips to match pump(going to do swim step brackets next) and added hard/chrome fuel line with fuel psi gauge. Already changed out to non-liquid filled gauge after talking to Holley tech that said liquid filled gauges drop psi as they heat up.... Like under my engine hatch.

Well I thought that Beav's idea to do updates thru his original thread on his float was a great one so I'm doing the same... I'll have a few more in the near future just to catch up but for now a little trailer work. I finally got the fab done for a swing away tongue and put the boat in my garage for the first time since buying it in Feb. Garage never looked so good!

After the fab was done I changed from a 4-pin wiring adaptor to the 7. Also mounted and wired in a terminal block inside the trailer frame for future improvements in the trailers wiring. I have LED lights in the mail to change out to. Will also be replacing all wheel bearings and fixing the fiberglass fender that got smashed earlier this year

Another thing I think I'll change is the safety chains. I was shown the nylon coated cable style that self coil and thought they might look much cleaner and more modern than the chains...??

my reasoning behind doing chains over cable is for safety. you cannot inspect the inside of a cable to see if its rusty. even with a clear cloating you're just guessing that everything is fine as you can only see the outside braid. also with chains you ALWAYS need to run two of them and cross them. this allows you to keep the minimum amount of chain for turning... and in the event that it comes off the trailer the crossed chains will create a cradle and help to prevent digging the tongue into the pavement and the minimal chain will help keep things under control.

Looks good. How deep is the garage and how long is the boat pump to the front of the trailer? Just curious because this next year I'm going to try and buy a house and want to put the daytona in the garage

Well that's a great point! That's how I was shown to hook up from the start... Guess I've lost track as to the reason behind it. I'll take safety over look and just get new chain, thanks.

The garage is 19' 6" deep with tape touching the back wall and inside of garage door! SHALLOW!! I measured across the back of transom and made a mark on floor where I thought the back of transom would stop then measured diagonally to front corner of garage and came up with 24' 6" of space. The hull is 21' and I believe I'm right about 23' 6" overall from pump to tongue hinge. After swinging tongue over I pulled the boat forward to the front corner as much as possible and have plenty of room to walk across back wall from kitchen to side door.
